STEM Mentor 2nd - 8th Grade
Location: Delaware, Ohio (On-site, Wednesdays)Employment Type: Part-Time
About the RoleThis is a hands-on mentoring position working with 2nd through 8th grade students. You'll introduce kids to real STEM concepts and give them the tools to actually compete — drones, coding, and more. Field trips are part of the mix too.
What you'll do- Lead weekly STEM sessions on Wednesdays in Delaware, OH- Expose students to core STEM principles across science, technology, engineering, and math- Prepare students for STEM competitions, including drone piloting and coding challenges- Organize and accompany students on STEM-related field trips- Build a classroom environment where curiosity is the norm
About you- Experience working with K-8 students, either in formal or informal education settings- Comfortable explaining technical concepts to kids aged 7-14- Some background in at least one STEM field — doesn't have to be everything- Patient, consistent, and genuinely interested in getting kids excited about STEM- Reliable availability on Wednesdays
Nice to have- Familiarity with drone operation or coding platforms (Scratch, Python, etc.)- Prior experience running or coaching academic competitions- Background in curriculum development or lesson planning
