English Education Teacher in Rwanda
We are looking for U.S. citizens who want to be a part of something bigger and are willing to go the distance to make a difference. Is that you?
In more than 60 countries, Peace Corps Volunteers are putting their purpose, passion, and skills to work in partnership with welcoming host communities – growing, teaching, learning, and making change together.
As a Peace Corps Volunteer, you'll live and work alongside community members on locally prioritized projects, receiving a stipend and other support as you immerse yourself in a new culture. You’ll build relationships, exchange knowledge, and help transform lives for generations.
About the project
Aspiring and experienced educators are invited to support English learning in classrooms in Rwanda.
Teachers in Rwanda continue to navigate challenges such as large class sizes, varying levels of student English proficiency, and limited access to teaching materials. At the same time, the Government of Rwanda has identified English proficiency as an important priority for the country’s long‑term educational and economic development. Public schools are seeking practical student-centered approaches that strengthen English language instruction and support teachers in building their professional skills. External support is essential to better prepare teachers, address persistent resource constraints, and strengthen English‑language instructional methods, which currently limit their ability to deliver high‑quality English instruction and to use English effectively as the medium of teaching and learning.
As an English Education Teacher, you will collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and education officials to strengthen English-language instruction and foster more engaging learning environments. Through modeling effective teaching strategies and encouraging meaningful opportunities for students to practice English, you will help teachers strengthen their practice while helping students gain confidence.
