Social Media & Content Intern
Social Media & Content Intern — TORQ Sports
📍 Location: Remote
📅 Internship Duration: Immediate start + TBD
About TORQ Sports
TORQ Sports is a growing sports social media platform built to help athletes navigate the recruiting process, build their presence, and connect with college programs.
We’re looking for a creative, sports-minded individual to help own TORQ’s presence across Instagram and TikTok.
This is not a traditional social media internship where you’ll simply assist with occasional posts. You’ll have direct access to TORQ’s social media accounts and play an active role in determining what we post, how we communicate, and how we build a recognizable voice across our platforms.
You’ll be responsible for consistently creating and publishing content that speaks directly to young athletes, recruits, coaches, and the broader sports community.
About the Role
As a Social Media & Content Intern, you’ll help manage TORQ’s Instagram and TikTok accounts from day to day.
You’ll create short-form video content, graphics, recruiting-related content, platform-native posts, and timely content around what is happening in sports.
The goal is to make TORQ consistently present in the feeds of athletes and sports fans while developing a voice that feels authentic to the sports community.
You’ll work closely with the TORQ team while also having the freedom to bring your own ideas, creativity, and understanding of social media to the role.
What You’ll Do
Help manage TORQ’s Instagram and TikTok accounts.
Create and publish consistent short-form content for both platforms.
Produce TikToks, Reels, and other vertical video content.
Turn recruiting education, sports news, trends, and TORQ initiatives into engaging social content.
Develop recurring content series and formats that can become recognizable parts of the TORQ brand.
Help maintain a consistent TORQ voice across Instagram and TikTok.
Identify relevant social media trends, sounds, formats, and conversations that TORQ can naturally participate in.
Create content designed specifically for each platform rather than simply reposting the same material everywhere.
Write captions, hooks, on-screen text, and calls to action.
Engage with athletes, teams, coaches, creators, and relevant sports accounts.
Help build and maintain a consistent content calendar.
Work with athletes, coaches, and members of the TORQ community to create user-generated and collaborative content.
Experiment with new content ideas, formats, and posting strategies.
Track content performance and use analytics to understand what is working.
Bring new ideas to the team for growing TORQ’s social presence and community.
Who We’re Looking For
Creative and comfortable generating content ideas consistently.
Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, Reels, and short-form video.
Someone who naturally understands what feels native to social media rather than overly corporate or promotional.
Strong understanding of sports culture and how athletes communicate online.
Able to recognize trends and determine which ones make sense for TORQ.
Organized and capable of maintaining a consistent posting schedule.
Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of TORQ’s social presence.
Willing to experiment, learn from performance, and adjust quickly.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Interested in sports, recruiting, social media, content creation, marketing, or athlete branding.
Current or former student-athletes, sports content creators, team social media managers, and candidates with firsthand experience in athletics are strongly encouraged to apply.
Previous professional social media experience is a plus, but it is not required.
Creativity, consistency, understanding of sports, and the ability to create content people actually want to watch matter most.
Nice-to-Have
Experience editing short-form video.
Familiarity with tools such as CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere, or similar platforms.
Experience managing an Instagram or TikTok account for a team, organization, brand, or personal platform.
Experience appearing on camera or creating personality-driven content.
Understanding of high school and college recruiting.
Experience creating graphics or simple social media designs.
Knowledge of social media analytics and performance metrics.
Existing portfolio, personal account, or examples of content you’ve created.
What You’ll Gain
Hands-on experience managing social media for a growing sports platform.
Direct ownership over real Instagram and TikTok accounts.
Experience developing a brand voice and content strategy.
Short-form video creation and editing experience.
Experience building and managing a social media content calendar.
Exposure to sports marketing, recruiting, athlete branding, and startup growth.
Experience analyzing content performance and adjusting strategy based on results.
Opportunities to work directly with athletes, coaches, creators, and sports organizations.
A portfolio of published work and measurable social media results.
Most importantly, you’ll be able to see the direct impact your content has on TORQ’s audience and growth.
How Success Is Measured
Success in this role will be based on both consistency and the ability to create content that connects with TORQ’s audience, including:
Consistency and quality of content published.
Growth in Instagram and TikTok reach.
Video views and watch time.
Engagement, including comments, shares, saves, and profile activity.
Growth of TORQ’s social media audience.
Athlete and community participation in TORQ content.
Development of repeatable content formats and series.
Ability to generate and execute new content ideas.
Overall improvement in TORQ’s social media presence and brand voice.
Why TORQ?
If you want to work in sports, social media, content creation, marketing, or athlete branding, this internship gives you the opportunity to gain experience by actually running and growing social platforms.
You won’t just be handed a list of posts to schedule.
You’ll have the opportunity to help shape what TORQ sounds like online, create content from your own ideas, experiment with new formats, and build a social presence alongside a growing sports social media platform.
We’re looking for someone who understands sports, understands social media, and is excited about helping TORQ become a consistent voice in the athlete and recruiting community.
