English Teacher in North Macedonia

Job description

We are looking for U.S. citizens who want to be a part of something bigger and are willing to go the distance to make a difference. Is that you?

In more than 60 countries, Peace Corps Volunteers are putting their purpose, passion, and skills to work in partnership with welcoming host communities – growing, teaching, learning, and making change together.

As a Peace Corps Volunteer, you'll live and work alongside community members on locally prioritized projects, receiving a stipend and other support as you immerse yourself in a new culture. You’ll build relationships, exchange knowledge, and help transform lives for generations.

About the project

If you’re an adaptable, enthusiastic educator ready to make a real impact, North Macedonia is looking for you!

North Macedonia faces an ongoing need for strengthened English‑language education, particularly in rural communities where schools have limited resources and fewer opportunities for students. While the country has a well-established education system, many schools still rely on traditional, lecture-based teaching methods and lack access to modern materials, digital tools, and interactive, student‑centered approaches. Learning the English language is a priority goal, as the government recognizes its importance for expanding academic and career pathways and preparing youth for an increasingly interconnected world. However, these expectations place additional demands on educators. External support can help bridge these gaps by providing schools and teachers with the resources, training, and innovative practices needed to ensure students—especially those in underserved areas—can fully benefit from high‑quality English‑language education.

As an English Teacher, you will collaborate with school staff to incorporate practical tools that enhance both learning and lesson delivery. By creating an enriching classroom environment and extracurricular activities that reinforce lessons beyond the classroom, you will help students become more confident English speakers and contribute to North Macedonia’s long-term educational goals.
