Editorial Research Assistant

Editorial Research Assistant — LatinFinance Deals of the Year Awards

Temporary | Remote | October 16–January 16

LatinFinance is seeking an Editorial Research Assistant to support its flagship Deals of the Year Awards, which recognize significant financial transactions across Latin America and the Caribbean.

From October 16 through January 16, the Editorial Research Assistant will help verify and organize information related to nominated and winning transactions. The role involves working directly with financing, investor relations, legal and corporate teams at public- and private-sector institutions across the region to confirm deal details and ensure that all participating institutions are accurately represented.

Reporting to the Head of Awards, you will help fact-check transaction information and prepare final deal credits for the Awards Ceremony, LatinFinance.com and the print magazine.

This is an excellent opportunity for a current student or recent graduate interested in financial or business journalism to gain a behind-the-scenes look at how major transactions are structured and executed, and at the banks, investors, companies, law firms and advisers involved in Latin America’s financial markets.

Responsibilities

  • Review award submissions and supporting transaction information.
  • Verify deal details, participating institutions, company names, professional titles and other transaction credits.
  • Contact senior executives, financing teams, investor relations professionals, lawyers and advisers to confirm information.
  • Follow up persistently and professionally when confirmations are outstanding.
  • Research companies and transactions when submitted information is incomplete or inconsistent.
  • Maintain accurate tracking sheets and project records.
  • Prepare finalized transaction credits for publication and presentation at the Awards Ceremony.
  • Assist with quality control across print, digital and event materials.
  • Handle unpublished award information with discretion and confidentiality.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is highly organized, resourceful and exceptionally detail-oriented. Candidates should be comfortable taking initiative and communicating professionally with senior executives.

A strong candidate will have:

  • A demonstrated interest in financial, business or economic journalism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and fact-checking abilities.
  • Confidence making unsolicited calls and following up with senior-level executives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working independently and managing multiple outstanding requests.
  • Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with Canva.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Portuguese language skills are a plus.

Current students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Schedule and Location

This is a temporary, remote position running from October 16 through January 16.

The anticipated workload is approximately five hours per week on average, with heavier workloads at the beginning and end of the project.

Candidates working on or near U.S. Eastern Time are preferred.

Compensation

This position will be compensated through a fixed project fee.

To Apply

Please send a résumé and a short note explaining your interest in the position to awards@latinfinance.com by October 12.
