About Bridge The Gap
Bridge The Gap is a therapeutic mentoring company based in Westlake Village, CA. We support people in their day-to-day lives outside of their treatment settings, whether that's therapy, a residential program, or an IOP. We also mentor parents and spouses who need help setting boundaries and taking care of themselves. Take a look at www.bridgethegapservices.com to see how we work.
What a mentor does
You'll spend time with a client in their real world (home, school, the gym, the grocery store) helping them practice the skills they're learning in treatment. That might mean building a morning routine with a teen on the autism spectrum, helping a young adult in early recovery get through a hard afternoon, or sitting with a parent who is learning to say no. Every case is different, and you'll be matched to clients who fit your background.
Our name is the job. Our main goal is to bridge the gap between clients and their treatment providers so everyone is on the same page. That means you'll be in regular contact with therapists, psychiatrists, program staff, and family members. You need to be comfortable speaking up in those conversations, open to feedback and collaboration, and able to hold your ground with strong personalities.
Mentors are not therapists, and we're clear with families about that. You're the person who helps the treatment plan work when the therapist isn't in the room.
Who we're looking for
You have hands-on experience or coursework in mental health, addiction, or autism support. You're a team player who can also work independently in someone's home. You communicate clearly with clinicians and parents alike. Familiarity with ASD and the LGBTQ+ community is a real plus, because it matters to the families we serve.
Education
You must have, or be working toward, a bachelor's or master's degree in psychology, social work, or another behavioral science field. Current students are welcome to apply.
How the schedule works
This role is structured like a private practice. Once you're approved, you don't start until a client who is a good match for you signs on. We reach out, you take the case, and your caseload builds from there. Hours are flexible and depend on your clients' needs, which makes this a good fit alongside a class schedule or another part-time job.
Requirements
Reliable transportation and a valid California driver's license. Willingness to complete a background check. Ability to travel to clients in [county/region].
Benefits
Flexible schedule. Clinical supervision and team support. Direct experience that counts toward your career in mental health and addiction work.
