About the Casper Spuds

Thank you for your interest in joining the Casper Spuds Baseball organization!

The Casper Spuds are a minor league-style collegiate summer baseball organization based in Casper, Wyoming. We combine competitive collegiate baseball with the entertainment, promotions, community engagement, and fan experience of minor league baseball.

Our goal is to provide interns with meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares them to compete for future opportunities in collegiate and professional sports. Spuds interns aren't simply observing from the sidelines—they become an important part of our organization and help bring the Spuds experience to life throughout the season.

We are happy to work with students who wish to fulfill requirements for college internship credit when applicable. Previous experience working in sports is not required. We are looking for creative, energetic individuals who are ready to learn, contribute, and become part of the Spuds team.

Position Overview

The Casper Spuds are seeking a creative, energetic, and technically minded Game-Day Audio & Entertainment Intern to help create the sound, energy, and atmosphere of Spuds Baseball during the 2027 summer season.

This internship is ideal for someone who loves music, live entertainment, sports, audio production, and creating memorable experiences for a crowd.

The Game-Day Audio & Entertainment Intern will help control the soundtrack of the ballpark, including pregame music, player walk-up songs, in-game music, sound effects, promotional audio, PA elements, theme-night music, and postgame entertainment.

This individual will work closely with Spuds game-day, marketing, promotions, and production personnel to ensure music and audio elements are appropriately timed with what is happening both on the field and throughout the ballpark.

The position requires much more than pressing play on a playlist. Great ballpark audio requires someone who understands timing, baseball, crowd energy, entertainment, and the flow of a live event. The right music or sound effect at the right moment can completely change the atmosphere inside the stadium.

The ideal candidate has a strong sense of timing, enjoys discovering and organizing music, can remain focused during a fast-moving live event, and wants to learn how audio contributes to the overall fan experience within a sports organization.

Key Responsibilities

Ballpark Music: Select, organize, and execute appropriate music for pregame, in-game, between-inning, promotional, and postgame entertainment.

Player Walk-Up Music: Organize, maintain, and execute player walk-up songs and other player-specific audio elements throughout the season.

Game-Day Playlists: Develop and maintain organized playlists for various portions of the game-day experience, including gates opening, pregame, in-game breaks, between innings, postgame, and special events.

Theme-Night Music: Develop music and audio appropriate for Spuds theme nights and special events, including nights such as Fireworks Nights, Tater Tot Tuesday, and other promotional themes.

Live Audio Execution: Select and execute music, sound effects, stingers, and other audio elements in real time based on game action, promotions, crowd response, and the overall atmosphere of the ballpark.

PA Production Support: Assist with preparing, organizing, recording, and executing PA reads and prerecorded audio for corporate partners, promotions, special events, and game-day announcements.

Sponsor Audio: Ensure required sponsor audio, recorded advertisements, promotional reads, and other partnership elements are appropriately incorporated into the game-day presentation.

Sound & PA Systems: Assist with setup, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of ballpark sound and PA equipment before and during games and events.

Audio Software: Utilize available audio and music software to organize, prepare, cue, and execute game-day music and sound elements.

Game-Day Entertainment Coordination: Work closely with game-day and promotions personnel to synchronize music, sound effects, and PA elements with on-field contests, fan activities, sponsor promotions, special presentations, and other entertainment.

Promotional Cues: Follow game-day scripts and production cues to ensure audio elements are executed at the appropriate time during promotions and between-inning activities.

Crowd Engagement: Read the atmosphere of the ballpark and select appropriate music and audio elements to help build energy, celebrate exciting moments, and enhance the overall fan experience.

Baseball Awareness: Follow game action closely and understand the pace and flow of baseball in order to anticipate appropriate opportunities for music and entertainment elements without interfering with play.

Special Events: Assist with audio and entertainment needs for theme nights, fireworks nights, community events, festivals, concerts, and other special events hosted at Mike Lansing Field as applicable.

Casper Baseball Club Support: Collaborate with the Casper Baseball Club to assist with game-day audio and entertainment needs for applicable home games and events.

Press Box Operations: Help maintain an organized, professional, and functional press box environment, including organization of audio equipment, cables, computers, music files, and other technical resources.

Technical Preparation: Conduct appropriate pregame checks of audio equipment, music libraries, PA elements, microphones, computers, and other systems to identify potential issues before gates open.

Audio Organization: Maintain an organized digital library of music, sound effects, sponsor audio, PA elements, player walk-up songs, and other game-day audio assets.

Game-Day Operations: Collaborate with Spuds staff and fellow interns to support game-day activities, promotions, special events, and the overall fan experience.

Team Operations: Summer baseball is a team effort. Interns may assist with additional team and organizational responsibilities as needed to help provide a positive, safe, and memorable experience for Spuds fans.

For example, when an on-field promotion begins, the Game-Day Audio & Entertainment Intern may be responsible for cueing the appropriate music, transitioning to a sound effect, lowering audio for a PA announcement, and bringing the music back at exactly the right moment.

That coordination helps transform a baseball game into a complete entertainment experience.

Why Intern with the Casper Spuds?

Think about some of the moments you remember from attending a baseball game.

The walk-up song before a big at-bat. The music building before the first pitch. The sound effect after a strikeout. The song that gets an entire section of fans singing together. The perfectly timed audio during a ridiculous between-inning promotion.

Those moments don't happen by accident.

As the Game-Day Audio & Entertainment Intern, you'll help create the soundtrack of Spuds Baseball.

You'll learn how to read a crowd, follow the rhythm of a baseball game, anticipate what's coming next, and use music and sound to turn moments on the field into moments fans remember.

Rather than simply building playlists, you'll experience what it's like to operate audio in real time during a live sporting event, where timing matters and no two games unfold exactly the same way.

Whether your goal is to work in professional sports, live entertainment, audio production, music, broadcasting, or event production, this internship provides an opportunity to develop those skills while helping create the atmosphere of a summer at Mike Lansing Field.

Application Process

We are looking for interns who are ready to bring the music, read the crowd, hit the right cue, and help create the sound of Spuds Baseball.

Applicants should submit a résumé highlighting any relevant experience in audio production, music, live events, broadcasting, sports, entertainment, theatre, DJ work, student media, or other related areas.

Previous professional audio experience is not required. We are especially interested in applicants who demonstrate creativity, reliability, musical awareness, strong timing, attention to detail, and the ability to remain focused during a live event.

We look forward to reviewing your application and introducing you to Spuds Baseball in Casper, Wyoming!

Set the soundtrack. Create the energy. Bring the ballpark to life.
