Job Summary/Basic Function:
Join Boise State University's Admissions and New Student Programs team in a role focused on creating welcoming and engaging experiences for new students and their families. The Coordinator of New Student Programs plans and coordinates orientation, transition, and engagement programs that help students successfully transition to Boise State. This role collaborates with campus partners to bring programs to life, coordinate event logistics, and create opportunities for students to connect with the university and build a sense of belonging.
The position also plays an important role in new student outreach, customer service, and student staff development. Through relationship-building, collaboration, and a commitment to student success, the Coordinator helps create meaningful experiences that welcome new students and support their transition into the Boise State community.

Department Overview:
New Student Programs (NSP) facilitates the successful transition of new students and their families to Boise State University through orientation, transition, welcome, and family engagement programs. By connecting students to campus resources and fostering a sense of belonging, NSP advances student success, engagement, and retention. Please note, Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Level Scope:
Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Essential Functions:
60% of time the Coordinator of New Student Programs must:
- Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive orientation and transition programs, including New Student Orientation, Family Orientation, International Student Orientation, Bronco Welcome, and other programs serving first-year, transfer, non-traditional, international, and virtual students.
- Coordinate assigned components of orientation programs and initiatives, ensuring program activities, timelines, communications, materials, and operational details are completed effectively.
- Collaborate with campus partners, including the Advising and Academic Support Center, Housing and Residence Life, Student Involvement and Leadership Center, Student Connections and Support Center, Educational Access Center, Center for Global Engagement, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and Student Financial Services, to support successful program delivery.
- Support orientation program logistics, including facilities, conference services, housing, advising and registration, materials, technology, and summer program support.
- Support the implementation of first-year transition curriculum and initiatives that promote student engagement, belonging, persistence, and success.
- Assist with the coordination of program assessment, reporting, data collection, and completion of operational deliverables supporting orientation and transition initiatives.
- Support the recruitment, training, scheduling, and day-to-day coordination of Orientation Leaders and other student staff who contribute to orientation and transition programs.
- Assist with the development and facilitation of Orientation Leader training, workshops, meetings, and program preparation activities.
- Coach and provide guidance to Orientation Leaders and other student staff related to program expectations, communication, customer service, and delivery of a consistent and positive student experience; this position does not have direct supervisory responsibility for student staff.
- Coordinate assigned projects and program components, communicating timelines, responsibilities, and deliverables to appropriate stakeholders.
- Provide program support during orientation and transition events, including summer programs and other high-volume periods, and respond to operational needs as they arise.
35% of time the Coordinator of New Student Programs must:
- Support New Student Programs' outreach and communication efforts to incoming students and their families, helping ensure information is timely, accurate, accessible, and aligned with the new student experience.
- Promote and model a positive customer service approach when interacting with incoming students, families, campus partners, and other stakeholders.
- Support the planning and participation in office-specific and cross-divisional training related to customer service, communication, student engagement, and the incoming student experience.
- Coach and mentor Orientation Leaders and other student staff in providing comprehensive, consistent, and accurate information and delivering positive, timely, and efficient service to incoming students and families.
- Support the development and delivery of student-facing resources, communications, and engagement strategies that help incoming students navigate orientation, transition, and their first interactions with Boise State.
- Respond to questions and requests from incoming students and families through appropriate communication channels and connect students with campus resources and services as needed.
- Assist with outreach campaigns and communication efforts designed to encourage student participation in orientation, advising, registration, and other new student programs.
- Monitor student and family questions, concerns, and feedback to identify common themes and opportunities to improve communication, processes, and the overall new student experience.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of frequently asked questions, student communications, web content, informational materials, and other resources that support a consistent and accessible student experience.
- Support the collection and review of student and family feedback related to orientation and the new student experience and contribute to improvements in customer service and program delivery.
- Serve as a positive and knowledgeable representative of New Student Programs when interacting with students, families, campus partners, and other university stakeholders.
5% of time the Coordinator of New Student Programs must:
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, College Student Personnel, Student Development, Student Leadership, Counseling, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- One to three years of professional experience in orientation, transition programs, student engagement, student affairs, enrollment management, customer service, or a related higher education setting.
- Experience supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of programs, events, or student services.
- Experience working with student employees, student leaders, or student volunteers.
- Experience developing or facilitating student staff training, workshops, or educational programs.
- Experience providing customer service and responding to questions or concerns from students, families, or other stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with multiple campus or organizational partners to support student-centered programs and services.
- Experience with student outreach, communications, or engagement initiatives.
- Experience using technology and information systems to support program communication, registration, scheduling, or data management.
Physical Demands:
Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and requiring wearing hearing protection.
