National Lab Energy District Cup Claremont Team
We are putting together a student-led team for the National Lab of the Rockies (NLR) Energy District Cup, a new collegiate competition that challenges multidisciplinary student teams to develop practical, cost-effective energy solutions for a campus or district. This is an exciting academic-year-long opportunity involving training and opportunities to engage with experts in the energy industry, with a potential to win prizes and national recognition. Applications to join a Claremont team are due on this Google Form by Tuesday, October 6th.
Students participating in the Energy District Cup competition will gain hands-on experience working with real data to evaluate district energy needs. They will develop skills in technical analysis and communication, build connections with energy professionals and potential employers, and create energy recommendations with meaningful value to campuses and districts. This program is expected to involve a potential commitment of up to 4 hours per week, culminating in an in-person competition event at the NLR. Students interested in urban planning, engineering, economics, natural sciences, environmental analysis, and other disciplines across the five Claremont Colleges are encouraged to apply. Students will receive a stipend for their participation.
Application requirements:
- Undergraduate student at one of the five Claremont Colleges
- Resume/CV
- 200-word statement of interest including any relevant background experiences
