Interior Design Intern
Part-Time or Full-Time Interior Design Internship

Chris Shao Studio, a boutique interior design firm based in New York City, is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Interior Design Intern to support our design team with materials coordination, sample procurement, and design assistant tasks.
This hands-on opportunity is ideal for a current Interior Design or Architecture student, or recent graduate, interested in learning how a working studio sources, organizes, and develops materials for high-end residential, hospitality, and multifamily projects.
Both part-time and full-time candidates will be considered.
Responsibilities
Request and track material samples, following up with vendors on availability and delivery.
Organize and maintain the studio’s materials library, including labeling, cataloging, and returning samples.
Assist with project material palettes and sample presentations.
Visit the D&D Building, Flatiron showrooms, and other local vendors to source and collect samples.
Monitor project material correspondence and help track procurement requests and outstanding items.
Assist with drafting and tracing floor plans in AutoCAD.
Build and modify furniture models in SketchUp or Rhino
Support the team with additional design and studio tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Currently studying or recently graduated from an Interior Design or Architecture program.
Working proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Clear communication, reliable follow-through, and the ability to manage several small tasks at once.
Interest in materials, furniture, and architectural finishes.
Availability to work in person at our New York studio on a consistent part-time schedule.
Additional Skills / Experience
Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Experience with Rhino or Enscape.
Familiarity with the D&D Building and New York design showrooms.
