The role
As an NC Army National Guard Soldier, you serve your state and country while building real skills you can use in any career. This isn't a typical part-time job — one weekend a month, two weeks a year, with full-time training to start. You'll train alongside other soldiers, maintain military readiness, and respond when North Carolina needs you.
What you'll do
- Attend drill weekends (one weekend/month) and Annual Training (two weeks/year)- Complete Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) to earn your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS)- Maintain physical readiness standards and pass the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT)- Operate and maintain military equipment relevant to your MOS- Respond to state emergencies, natural disasters, and other missions as activated- Work as part of a unit, following orders and leading when called upon
About you
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident- Between 17–35 years old (waivers available)- High school diploma or GED- Must pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)- Meet medical and physical fitness standards- No disqualifying criminal history
Nice to have
- Prior military experience- Leadership roles in school, sports, or community organizations- Interest in specific career fields (medical, IT, engineering, aviation, intelligence)
