The Hart Career Center is excited to announce the 2027 Career Immersion Excursion to Washington, D.C.!

Sunday, March 7 – Wednesday, March 10, 2027

Students will spend four days in Washington, D.C., exploring careers and gaining firsthand experience in government, public service, social impact, law and related fields.

The trip will include opportunities to visit the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and other sites throughout Washington, D.C. Students will have the chance to learn more about organizations and careers that shape our nation while building professional networks and exploring potential career paths.

The Career Immersion Excursion is designed to give students a close-up look at careers and organizations outside the classroom and help them connect their interests, academic experiences and career goals to the world of work.

All majors are encouraged to apply! Students with an interest in government, public service, law, social impact, public health, advocacy, policy, communications and related fields are especially encouraged to consider this experience.

Trip Cost

Generous support from IWU donors helps make this experience possible. The cost for selected students to participate is $250, which includes the flight, hotel and some meals.

Students selected to participate will pay the $250 fee in two installments. The first installment will be due no later than Sunday, December 6, 2026.

Students will not owe any payment unless they are selected to participate in the trip. Once selected, failure to submit the first installment by the December 6 deadline will result in forfeiture of the student’s spot, and the spot may be offered to another student.

Additional information about the second installment and other trip details will be provided to students selected to participate.

Attendance is limited.

Students interested in participating will be asked to submit:

  1. A professional resume
