Social Media Content Intern (UNR - Medical School, Pack Intern, Spring '27)
**This internship is hosted by UNR Medical School and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN.
Students are highly encouraged to complete a 15-minute drop-in or schedule an in-person or virtual 30-minute appointment with a Career Mentor BEFORE submitting an application. Resumes and cover letters that do not meet NCS best practices will not be included in applicant packages to employers.
After the application period closes in Handshake, the NCS Internships Team reviews the applicants and sends eligible students' applicant packages to employers for them to reach out to conduct interviews and make the final intern selection. Employers will contact students directly if they are interested in moving forward with them as a candidate.

Internship Description:
The Social Media Content Intern will be an integral part of the department’s communications efforts. You will be asked to develop multimedia content, including the production and editing of video and photos for social media platforms. You will also help develop evergreen content for UNR Med's main social media accounts. Student must be a reliable self-starter who can think on their feet and is not afraid to ask questions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Film, edit, and create short form video content for Instagram reels for UNR Med
- Utilize Sprout for social media content review and scheduling
- Contribute to content planning and scheduling for filming and gathering video content
- Participate in and contribute to content planning and brainstorming sessions with the marcom team
- Conduct background research and provide evergreen content packages for use on social media
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total)
- Create (film, produce, edit and publish) at least 3 unique social media campaigns to share on Instagram and LinkedIn
- Learn new software skills
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘27 semester
- December ‘26 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Pack Internship Grant Program
- Strong interview, writing and digital photography skills
- Experience taking professional photos and video (with good sound quality)
- Beginning knowledge of Associated Press writing style
- Clear oral and written communications skills
- Some familiarity with using Adobe Premier
- Some familiarity with Photoshop and Illustrator
- Ability to use new media in a professional setting
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.)
- Ability to research best practices in the utilization of social media
- Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment
- Be creative and flexible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A student pursuing journalism and media, in at least their sophomore year of study
- Knowledge of and excitement about short form content production
- Active on social media platforms and able to react to current trends
- Self-motivated and eager to try and learn new things
Desired Schedule for Intern:
Work hours available are during normal business hours, 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. On select dates, there may be an opportunity to adjust scheduling to attend special events outside of normal business hours.
PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
