Promotions and Marketing Intern (Need 2 Speed, Pack Intern, Spring '27)

**This internship is hosted by Need 2 Speed and sponsored by the Nevada Career Studio and ASUN. 

 

Students are highly encouraged to complete a 15 minute drop-in or schedule an in-person or virtual 30-minute appointment with a Career Mentor BEFORE submitting an application. Resumes and cover letters that do not meet NCS best practices will not be included in applicant packages to employers. 

 

After the application period closes in Handshake, the NCS Internships Team reviews the applicants and sends eligible students' applicant packages to employers for them to reach out to conduct interviews and make the final intern selection. Employers will contact students directly if they are interested in moving forward with them as a candidate

Internship Description: 

Are you passionate about marketing? Do you enjoy building relationships in the community, planning events or activations, and coming up with creative ideas? Are you a self-starter who likes taking ownership over a project? If yes... then this internship is for you!  

  

Need 2 Speed is an entertainment center in Reno that brings several experiences together under one roof, including go-kart racing, duckpin bowling, mini golf, an arcade, and a full restaurant and bar. A big part of our marketing is giving people a reason to come in beyond our everyday attractions. We create events, promotions, partnerships, and social media content that helps us reach new audiences and keep Need 2 Speed connected to the community.  

 

This would be a very hands-on marketing internship. Instead of simply observing what we do, we want our intern to have the opportunity to build and market something of their own! 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

The Promotions and Marketing intern will be responsible for a promotion, market activation, campaign or event from concept development through implementation and evaluation. The intern will provide weekly progress updates while working closely with General Management and the Promotions and Marketing Manager. 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern: 

  • Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (8-15 hours per week, 15 weeks total) 
  • Propose one or more promotions, market activations, or campaigns to management 
  • Develop one promotion, market activation, or campaign to be implemented during the 15-week internship 
  • Build a project timeline and budget; work with management to integrate the campaign into the company's promotion schedule 
  • Develop a final evaluation of campaign performance 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during the Spring ‘27 semester 
  • December ‘26 or earlier graduates are not eligible for the Pack Internship Grant Program 
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field 
  • Strong interest in marketing, events, social media, or community engagement 
  • Creative thinker who enjoys bringing new ideas to the table -Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of a project 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Comfortable reaching out to local businesses, organizations, student groups, and potential partners 
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and event details 
  • Familiar with social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook 
  • Willing to be hands-on with event planning, promotion, and on-site execution 
  • Able to operate independently while also collaborating with the Need 2 Speed team 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience helping plan or promote events, campus activities, fundraisers, or community initiatives 
  • Involvement in student organizations, clubs, Greek life, athletics, or other campus groups 
  • Strong understanding of the college student demographic and what types of events, promotions, and content appeal to them 
  • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and current social media trends 
  • Experience creating social media content, including short-form video, photography, or graphics 

 

Desired Schedule for Intern:  

Applicants must be available to work onsite 8-15 hours per week for a total of 120 hours over the course of 15 weeks. 

 

PIGP internships require interns to complete 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
