About us

Autra Academy is a hands-on STEAM studio offering LEGO robotics, coding and engineering programs for kids ages 5-14. Our project-based classes use supportive AI tools to help students build confidence, creativity and problem-solving skills.

The role

Lead small-group classes, camps and private sessions using our provided lesson plans. A great fit for students studying STEM, engineering, computer science or education who enjoy working with kids.

What you'll do

Teach LEGO robotics and coding, guiding students through building, programming, testing and debugging

Explain technical concepts clearly and support students at different skill levels and learning speeds

Manage classroom behavior and keep a safe, organized space (setup, cleanup, kit care)

Encourage teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving

Keep brief notes on student progress and share feedback on lesson pacing and curriculum

Communicate with staff and families as needed

Requirements

Experience teaching, tutoring or working with children, ideally in STEM, coding or childcare settings

Background in STEM, engineering, computer science or education

Experience with LEGO Education and familiarity with platforms such as Scratch, Minecraft or Roblox

Comfort working with students with diverse learning needs, including children on the autism spectrum

A patient, reliable, positive and flexible teaching style across ages and skill levels

Strong communication and classroom management skills

Nice to have

LEGO Mindstorms or SPIKE Prime experience, or basic Python

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) coaching or robotics competition experience

Interest in AI tools, large language models or machine learning in education

Schedule & pay

Weekday afternoons; Saturday availability required

Seasonal camps during school breaks

Travel between La Jolla and Carmel Valley as needed (travel time is paid)

$22/hour and up
