We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior English Tutor to join our team. As a dedicated English Tutor, you will be responsible for providing exceptional academic tutoring to high school students. Your expertise in English will empower students to strengthen their reading, writing, and analytical skills and excel in their coursework.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions on English.
  • Tailor study plans to address students' individual academic needs and learning styles.
  • Assist students in preparing for essays, exams, and class assessments, covering essential topics and test-taking strategies.
  • Teach fundamental English concepts, including reading comprehension, literary analysis, grammar, and essay writing.
  • Utilize interactive teaching methods and resources to enhance students' comprehension.
  • Review writing assignments and administer practice exercises to evaluate students' progress.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to motivate students in their academic pursuits.
  • Collaborate with parents or guardians, offering progress reports and addressing any concerns.
  • Stay updated with the latest English curriculum changes and educational trends.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

All applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelors degree – complete and not in progress.
  • Must have earned a grade of A- or higher in the subject(s) to be tutored.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 from university or college.
  • Ability to reliably commute to our office in Northridge
  • Exceptional understanding and enthusiasm for the subject content.
  • Available to work 3 or more afternoons and/or evening shifts for approximately 10-15 hrs/wk.
  • Responsible, dependable, honest, and mature.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Friendly, patient, and sensitive to a diverse range of students.
  • No prior tutoring experience is required, though it is appreciated.
