Digital Communications Intern
DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING INTERN
Zactli, Inc. | Remote | Unpaid Educational Internship | Up to 5 Hours per Week
About the Internship
Zactli is a member-supported digital platform centered on genuine human connection, user choice, and community. This semester-based educational internship gives students guided experience in marketing, communications, writing, and digital media.
Interns work on a defined semester project in a small team, generally with up to four students. Zactli’s leadership team provides instruction, project guidance, and regular feedback. Each student has individual learning goals and a contribution related to their studies. The team develops findings, drafts, prototypes, or recommendations; Zactli leadership decides whether and how to implement them and remains responsible for live operations.
What You May Work On
The team’s project will be defined at the start of the internship. Students contribute primarily in the area that matches their studies and collaborate across areas as the project requires.
Marketing
- Research prospective audiences and propose approaches to member awareness and engagement.
- Develop a proposed campaign plan, sample messages, and ways to assess results.
- Research potential creator partners and present outreach recommendations.
- Develop proposals for community, campus, or event-based outreach.
- Analyze available information and present findings; Zactli leadership owns live campaign decisions and execution.
Communications
- Research relevant media outlets and draft a proposed media kit for review.
- Draft sample public messaging that explains Zactli’s mission and philosophy.
- Draft sample member announcements, newsletters, and platform updates.
- Develop content ideas and draft sample posts for Zactli’s other social platforms.
English
- Draft and revise sample help articles, guides, and onboarding content.
- Draft editorial or long-form content and revise it based on feedback.
- Review interface wording and recommend changes for clarity and consistency.
- Propose a style guide for a consistent voice across content.
Digital Media
- Create sample multimedia materials or storyboards for leadership review.
- Develop a prototype tutorial or explainer video.
All Areas
- Organize findings, drafts, and recommendations into a clear final project.
- Collaborate within the intern team and with another team when projects overlap.
- Present findings, questions, and recommendations to Zactli leadership; leadership approves and implements any public use.
Learning & Development
Students may develop skills in audience research, campaign planning, measurement, media messaging, writing, editing, and multimedia production. Each student and a primary mentor will set individual learning objectives and project milestones in the Welcome & KPI Plan. Feedback, revision, and a final reflection are part of the experience.
What We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing a degree or educational program in Marketing, Communications, English, Technical Communication, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Interest in learning through a defined project and constructive feedback.
- For Digital Media projects, familiarity with design, video, or audio tools is helpful.
- Clear writing, curiosity, critical thinking, and research skills.
- Ability to collaborate with a team while completing an individual contribution.
- Organization, reliability, and willingness to ask questions and revise work.
- Interest in social platforms, community, storytelling, or mission-driven ventures.
Internship Structure
- Up to five (5) hours per week, including meetings and project work. The learning plan will identify start and end dates, instruction, feedback, and educational milestones. The internship will last only while it provides beneficial learning.
- Remote, with scheduling that accommodates classes, examinations, and academic breaks.
- A primary mentor from Zactli’s leadership team and at least one weekly team meeting for instruction, questions, and feedback.
- Intern projects will complement the leadership team’s work and will not replace paid employees or fill regular staffing needs. Instruction and student learning will guide project assignments, with individual learning goals for each student.
- Optional monthly Zactli All-Hands participation when schedules allow, within the five-hour weekly limit; recordings may be available.
- Before the internship begins, each student and their mentor will establish a written learning plan connecting the project to the student’s coursework or educational program. Where available, Zactli will coordinate with the student’s school or faculty advisor. Academic credit is welcome; students confirm school requirements, and Zactli completes applicable paperwork.
- Before beginning, Zactli and the student will confirm in writing that there is no expectation of compensation and no entitlement to a paid job at the conclusion of the internship.
How Success Is Measured
Success is measured through learning and project progress: individual learning objectives, research and draft quality, milestones, participation in feedback, team collaboration, a final presentation, and reflection. Zactli leadership is responsible for live campaigns, publishing, and ongoing operations.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and share which area interests you, what you hope to learn, and how it relates to your studies. Writing samples or portfolio links are welcome. If seeking academic credit, please share your school’s requirements.
