Advanced Technology Development Intern

Summary: Under the direction of the manager, this position is responsible for developing and validating vehicle integrated control models through simulation and vehicle testing.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Develop vehicle integrated control simulation models. 
  • Verify control models through simulation, primarily using MATLAB/Simulink and CarSim. 
  • Implement validated control models on an actual vehicle and verify their performance through vehicle testing. 
  • Support the development of cross-domain technologies that integrate vehicle control with AD/ADAS and IoV-PF technologies. 
  • Select a control-related theme at the beginning of the internship and complete the improvement of the simulation environment, construction of the control model, and validation of its performance. 
  • Maintain a safe workplace and follow all regulations and requirements related to safety and environmental compliance. 
  • Follow all quality policy standards. 

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge skills and abilities: 

Required

  • Knowledge and experience with MATLAB/Simulink and CarSim are required.
  • Ability to analyze and utilize simulation and test data is required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate development results is required.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of CAN communication and experience using CANalyzer or CANoe are preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle control and vehicle dynamics is preferred.
  • Basic programming skills in C, C++, or Python are preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive components and embedded systems is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electric chassis and powertrain systems is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of internal and external vehicle sensors, such as GPS, IMU, cameras, and LiDAR, is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of ADAS control functions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with hardware and software simulators, such as dSPACE, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Model Predictive Control is preferred.

 

Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field.

 

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 

 

Travel: Travel to Ohio or other state for vehicle testing activities, including occasional multi-day business trips, may be required.

 

Work Environment: Primarily in a professional business office with exposure to testing areas and periodic exposure to manufacturing environments.
