Internship Overview

Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in non-profit fundraising, arts administration, and grant writing? JGCO is seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Development & Grant Writing Intern to join our team.

In this role, you will work directly with organizational leadership to research funding opportunities, draft grant proposals, and maintain donor databases. This internship offers valuable mentorship, real-world experience in non-profit management, and portfolio-building opportunities in the performing arts sector.

Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities

  • Prospect Research: Learn how to identify and track foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities using databases and research tools.
  • Grant Proposal Development: Assist in drafting, proofreading, and assembling grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), and application materials.
  • Funder Reporting & Stewardship: Learn how non-profits track grant outcomes, draft progress reports, and communicate with institutional donors.
  • Development Administration: Help maintain the fundraising calendar, track deadlines, and organize donor files in our CRM system.
  • Special Projects: Collaborate on special fundraising campaigns, special events, and individual donor outreach.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest or background in arts management, non-profit administration, English, communications, or dance/performing arts.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) and research tools.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and excited to support a vibrant arts organization.
