Content Creator

The MU Career Center is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and committed student employee for our Marketing Team. The Marketing Team is a group of student employees that lead our office marketing efforts. The team consists of content creators (socials and blogs), a graphic designer, YouTube specialist, Handshake feed creators and Marketing Coordinator. 

 

The ideal candidate will play an instrumental role in the success of sustaining our department’s mission: Providing services and resources for MU students to acquire the skills, experiences and connections needed to thrive in their careers. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Record and edit video shorts and reels for Career Center Instagram and YouTube channel.
  • Add captions, audio and effects to reels with a keen eye on social trends.
  • Develop scripts for Instagram reels that are engaging, fun and career-related.
  • Brainstorm new and innovative ideas for themes and content for Instagram posts and reels.
  • Collaborate and pitch reels to other Mizzou social accounts 
  • Work closely with Marketing Team members (6-8 student staffers) and full-time staff supervisor to plan, implement, and monitor social media strategy and content.
  • Build brand awareness and encouragement engagement with Career Center socials. 

 

Schedule: 10-15 hours per week. Flexible; hybrid hours around your class schedule with a majority of work hours in the office (Student Success Center)

 

Qualifications:   

  • Experience editing and compiling reels and videos (using software like CapCut, Adobe Premiere, etc.)
  • Comfortable on camera and directing/producing reels (Man on the Street, etc.)
  • Familiarity with mics, tripods and audio equipment 
  • Excellent knowledge of Instagram and YouTube shorts
  • Understanding of key performance indicators of successful social media campaigns
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, providing constructive feedback and positive energy
  • Self-directed person with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Time management and ability to meet deadlines

 

Position Start:  Person will be hired in November and will shadow the current creator. There is the possibility of continued employment over summer (on campus or remote)!
