Animal Health Administrative Assistant Interns – Summer 2027

Date of Internship: May 17, 2027 – August 13, 2027

Preferred Degree Program Level: Undergraduate

The Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Division of Animal Health is seeking two (2) undergraduate College Interns for Summer 2027. This internship is an office administrative job designed for students with an agriculture major (Animal Science preferred). During this internship, the student will gain experience and knowledge about regulatory veterinary medicine when it pertains to Ohio’s livestock, poultry, and commercial dog breeding sectors.

The selected candidates will:

  • Work with the Division of Animal Health staff in various programs on the ODA campus in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
  • Provide help with the Fairs and Exhibitions programs which includes constructing of supplies and boxes for the 93 county and independent fairs; assist with communications and coordinating of boxes with field staff and fair veterinarians.
  • Help with data entry to include animal disease traceability work and entering health certificates and other reports and documents into tracking databases such as CIVET and USAHERDs/AgEnterprise.
  • Complete premises identification number (PIN) verification and validation of Ohio premises.
  • Assist with data tracking in USDA response systems (EMRS) as it pertains to emergency response including Premises ID registrations and reconciliation.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed at least one semester of college.
  • Must be enrolled in accredited college or university.
  • Seeking students enrolled in related area of study (e.g., Animal Science, Public Health)
