Food Safety Intern – Summer 2027
Date of Internship: May 17, 2027 – August 13, 2027
Preferred Degree Program Level: Undergraduate
The Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Division of Food Safety is seeking an undergraduate College Intern for Summer 2027. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Shadow our inspectors while they conduct inspections of manufactured food facilities
- Assist with environmental and product sampling assignments
- Work on special projects and trainings:
- Examples of previous trainings interns worked on:
- Inspections, Compliance, and Enforcement
- Investigation Principles
- HACCP
- Preventive Controls
- Regulatory Program Foundations
- Laws, Regulations, Policies, and Procedures
- Examples of previous trainings interns worked on:
- Examples of projects previous interns worked on:
- Developed a resource page for the Food Safety Division website on general household food safety tips for consumers
- Assisted with transitioning a retail food program assessment for local health departments to an online platform
- Developed an educational handout on the importance of establishing a food safety culture for our food industry partners regulated by the Food Safety Division
- Attend division and other agency related meetings
Qualifications
- Must have completed at least one semester of college.
- Must be enrolled in accredited college or university.
- Seeking students enrolled in related area of study (e.g., Food Science, Animal Science, Public Health, Microbiology, Chemistry)
