Senior Director - Nursing

Colby Community College (CCC) invites applications for a full-time Senior Director - Nursing to support the College’s mission in providing leadership and oversight of our Practical Nursing (PN) and Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) programs.

The comprehensive compensation package for this full-time, exempt position is listed below:

 

  • Starting Salary:                        $90,000 - $97,500
  • Educational Incentive*:           $2,700
  • Relocation Reimbursement:    $3,000

 

*The educational incentive is additional compensation for individuals who have a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or other advanced professional/doctorate degree.

Our new Senior Director of Nursing will join Colby Community College during an exciting time where we are looking to strengthen our impact and presence in Northwest Kansas.  We want to become the premiere provider of nursing education in the region.  You will be asked to create and build relationships with local healthcare organizations and work closely with our accrediting bodies. You will have the opportunity to evaluate and assess our current program and implement best practices.

 

We are looking for an executive leader, who will assess, realign if necessary and expand our nursing program.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing – MSN
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with the ability to obtain KS RN licensure upon hire.
  • Successful experience in nursing administration (Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, Nursing Program Coordinator, Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing) or teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in supervising, managing, or directing nursing staff in a clinical or educational setting.
  • Experience with accrediting agencies, and ensuring compliance within a highly complex regulatory environment.
  • The following professional certifications are highly desired: Nurse Executive – Board Certified (ANCC), Certified Nurse Educator (NLN), Certified in Executive Nursing Practice (AONL) or equivalent.
  • A demonstrated systems thinker and program builder with experience partnering with executive leadership to assess, realign, rebuild, and expand nursing programs.

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Program Leadership and Administration:
    • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Associate Degree and Practical Nursing programs in alignment with institutional, KSBN, and ACEN standards.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing curricula to ensure compliance, relevance, and rigor.
    • Oversee academic scheduling, clinical coordination, and faculty workload for both programs; as well as potential instructional responsibilities. 
    • Ensure that policies and procedures for admission, progression, and graduation are consistent with state and accreditation requirements.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with KSBN and ACEN regarding program status, changes, and accreditation activities.
    • Prepare and oversee program budgets, resource allocation, and equipment management.
  • Accreditation, Compliance, and Reporting:
    • Ensure full compliance with KSBN and ACEN regulations, including ongoing program approval and accreditation maintenance.
    • Prepare self-studies, annual reports, and documentation for state and national accreditation.
    • Coordinate site visits, audits, and follow-up actions related to KSBN and ACEN reviews.
    • Monitor and document program outcomes, including licensure pass rates, completion, retention, and employment data.
    • Maintain accurate and secure records of faculty qualifications, clinical affiliations, and program assessments.
  • Faculty Supervision and Development:
    • Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate full-time and adjunct nursing faculty.
    • Support faculty professional development and ensure all instructors meet KSBN and ACEN credentialing standards.
    • Coordinate faculty orientation, meetings, and continuing education activities.
    • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes instructional excellence and innovation.
    • Other duties as assigned.
