The Library's mission is to provide resources, services, and a place to read, connect, relax, and learn. The Library supports literacy, lifelong learning, civic engagement, and cultural awareness. To achieve these goals, the Library provides: access to library materials and guidance in finding quality, trusted information, events for all ages to support life-long learning and early literacy, and school year and summer programs to promote a lifetime love of reading. The Library helps adults and children by offering access to hundreds of thousands of books, audiobooks, e-books and other materials. Thousands of patrons are reached through outreach activities to schools, homebound patrons, Roxbury Book Nook, and community events.
Who We're Looking For
The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a Library Page to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of manual and clerical tasks essential to the smooth operation of the library, including sorting, shelving, stacking, and retrieving library materials. This position requires pushing and pulling heavy book carts, maneuvering carts through tight spaces, and stretching and bending to reach high and low shelves. You'll maintain public areas in a clean and orderly condition, assist with room setup and breakdown, including rearranging furniture for library programs, and help transport books and donated materials. Ideal candidates should be adept at alphabetical and numerical filing systems, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service. Definition:
To perform a variety of manual and clerical tasks in support of library services.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is the entry-level in the single-level, part-time Library Page administrative support class. Initially, incumbents work under close supervision, performing a limited variety of tasks requiring common abilities that can be learned during a short orientation on the job. Work may be checked in progress or upon completion. As experience is gained, incumbents are expected to perform the full range of duties as assigned with increasing independence.
This class is distinguished from the regular part-time Senior Library Page in that the latter assists supervisor with the development of new Library Pages, providing orientation, job shadowing, limited instruction, and guidance and direction to Library Pages involved in team or group projects; may assist with monitoring and facilitating workflow.
Work Schedule
All work is performed on-site; this position is not eligible for telework. The scheduled hours per week may be assigned at any time within the library’s operating hours. Additionally, depending on program needs, incumbents will be assigned to work evening shifts during the week and weekends. Mandatory training shifts will include weekdays, and may require half-day or full-day availability.
Library hours are Monday–Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m.; Friday–Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.

Salary and Benefits
$17.81 - Hourly
This position is represented by the Municipal Employees Association - Part-Time Unit and is covered by the negotiated terms and conditions of that Association's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Experience:
No experience is required. One year of responsible customer service experience is desirable.
Training:
High school graduation or equivalent. High school students will be considered provided they have a valid worker’s permit.
