Bubby provides a service that automates escheatment compliance end to end. Escheatment is one of the most overlooked yet highest-risk compliance obligations facing modern businesses. Every company that holds uncashed checks, dormant accounts, unredeemed rebates, or forgotten balances is required to track, report, and remit that unclaimed property to the appropriate state after a statutory dormancy period, typically one to five years. This process spans across multiple industries such as banking, healthcare, oil & gas to name a few. With state governments collectively holding an estimated $70 billion in unclaimed property on behalf of roughly 33 million people, and reporting rules that differ across all 50 states plus jurisdictions like Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, escheatment has become a compliance minefield. Businesses that miss deadlines or misreport property face steep penalties, often assessed per item rather than per dollar, making even small oversights costly at scale. Bubby is building a SaaS platform that automates escheatment compliance end to end. From AI-driven property identification to seamless integrations with existing financial systems, our platform is transforming how businesses track dormant assets, meet state-specific deadlines, and remit unclaimed property accurately and on time.  The Bubby’s platform has the following attributes:

Machine Learning & AI – Develop predictive models to flag at-risk dormant accounts early and anomaly detection to catch reporting errors before they become compliance failures.

Cloud Infrastructure & Scalability – Design and optimize cloud-native architectures that can process and track unclaimed property records across a growing client base and all 50 state jurisdictions.

Security & Compliance – Implement secure transaction processing and data privacy safeguards that meet state-by-state escheatment statutes and financial data protection standards.

API & System Integrations – Work on real-time data synchronization with banking systems to automate due diligence mailings, reporting deadlines, and remittance workflows.

Project Description

Students on this team will utilize the latest AI technologies to optimize the collection and classification of large amounts of unclaimed property data. The deliverable of this project is a software app that will identify dormant accounts and at-risk assets.  The User Interface will be used by compliance teams at Bubby's customers to make better decisions and speed up their escheatment reporting and due diligence activities.
