Job Purpose
This internship is designed to provide a deep dive on finance and accounting’s role within a publicly traded organization while providing an opportunity to contribute value-added work. The Finance Intern is responsible for executing updates to reporting and forecasting processes and analytics, performing analysis to support decisions, identifying key drivers of financial performance, and aiming to improve or add value to current processes within the team. Opportunities to learn across a variety of disciplines within accounting and finance will be available focusing on financial statement analysis and forecasting principals. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of Xeris’s commercial and development businesses. The intern will be exposed to finance and accounting interactions as well as cross-functional collaboration to gain perspective on how finance supports decisions within a company.
Essential Job Functions
- Analyze month-end results and summarize values and explanations for significant variances compared to historical actuals and forecast expectations
- Partner with commercial functions to analyze spend and manage expenses to Budget
- Update and create financial reporting focusing on automated processes for continued use
- Contribute to monthly reporting package updates provided to Finance leadership
- Support financial forecast and prioritization processes
- Partner with Accounts Payable and Accounting team to support in weekly or monthly tasks following controls and standard operating procedures
- Ad-hoc finance and accounting projects
Skills and Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel
- Ability to make logical and sound decisions and to know when to act independently and when to seek assistance

Working Conditions
- Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Periodic overnight travel.
- This role is based in Xeris’ Chicago office and requires five days per week in the office. On-site requirement may change at management’s discretion.
