Job Purpose
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our Formulations department for the Early-Stage Analytical team. This internship offers hands-on experience in analytical testing of pharmaceuticals, exposure to real-world projects, and an opportunity to develop professional skills in a collaborative environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist with preparing samples according to SOPs, characterization of drug molecules, data analysis, method development, documentation through electronic laboratory notebook (ELN)
- Support the team in day-to-day operations as needed
- Perform routine instrument operation, calibration, and basic maintenance
- Participate in weekly team meetings by presenting data and contributing ideas
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed
- Perform studies to optimize experimental workflows
- At the conclusion of the internship, prepare a comprehensive review of the internship experience and present to the organization
Skills and Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s/Masters in Biology, Chemistry or related field and/or has completed a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate studies
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Returning to academic program at a credentialed institution for at least one semester post-internship
- Strong interest in a career in the pharmaceutical industry or in academia
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in laboratory safety, basic laboratory instruments (pH, balances, etc.), Excel
- Prior class in chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, lab instrumentation-related course
- Thrive in a fast-paced, diverse work environment
- Undergraduate laboratory research experience is preferred

Working Conditions
- Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations.
- This role is based in Xeris’ Chicago office and requires five days per week in the office. On-site requirement may change at management’s discretion.
