Commercial Excellence & Proposal Intern

The Commercial Excellence & Proposal Intern will support the Commercial organization through proposal development, research, sales enablement, and process improvement initiatives. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to the commercial lifecycle while working with Commercial and cross-functional teams to support customer opportunities and improve how commercial information and processes are managed.

The role provides an opportunity to develop experience in proposal writing, commercial research, artificial intelligence and automation, sales processes, and cross-functional collaboration within a global logistics organization.

In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, the intern will complete a manager-assigned Internship Project over the course of the 10-week program and establish individual Intern Goals focused on their own professional and technical development.

Key Accountabilities

Proposal & Commercial Support

  • Assist with drafting, editing, formatting, and reviewing customer-facing proposals, presentations, RFP/RFI responses, and related commercial materials.
  • Gather and organize information from Commercial, Operations, Pricing, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to support proposals and customer opportunities.
  • Help translate operational, service, and commercial information into clear customer-facing content.
  • Maintain and organize proposal templates, case studies, standard responses, value propositions, and reusable content.
  • Support proposal tracking, timelines, and other activities associated with active commercial opportunities.

Research, Automation & Commercial Enablement

  • Conduct research on customers, prospects, industries, market trends, and other topics to support Commercial activities.
  • Prepare concise research summaries, customer briefs, and other materials for Commercial team members.
  • Support the use of AI and automation tools to improve proposal development, research, content management, and other Commercial workflows.
  • Identify repetitive or manual activities and assist with developing practical solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Help create and maintain Commercial tools, templates, trackers, process documentation, and knowledge resources.
  • Support additional Commercial Excellence and Sales Enablement initiatives as needed.

 

Internship Project

Throughout the 10-week internship, the intern will complete a manager-assigned project addressing a relevant business opportunity, challenge, or area of improvement within the Commercial organization.

The project will serve as the intern's primary assignment throughout the program and will require the intern to apply research, analysis, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. The intern will work with their manager and relevant stakeholders throughout the internship and present their final project and recommendations during Week 10.

The specific project scope will be determined by the intern's manager based on current business priorities.

 

Intern Goals

At the beginning of the program, the intern will establish individual Intern Goals identifying skills or capabilities they would like to develop throughout the internship.

Goals may focus on areas such as:

  • Professional communication and presentation skills
  • Proposal and business writing
  • Project management and organization
  • Commercial and logistics knowledge
  • Data analysis and visualization
  • AI, automation, or other technical skills
  • Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Interest in commercial strategy, sales, logistics, and customer solutions.
  • Interest in AI, automation, and emerging productivity technologies.
  • Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to generative AI tools, automation platforms, or low-code solutions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate, Power BI, Power Apps, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Experience with business writing, presentations, research, or data analysis.
  • Interest in logistics, supply chain, freight forwarding, warehousing, or transportation.
