Human Resources Intern/Assistant

Human Resources Intern/Assistant (PT/Temporary):

Choate Rosemary Hall, an independent boarding and day school for students in grades 9 through postgraduate in Wallingford, Connecticut, is seeking qualified candidates for an exciting opportunity to work within the School's Human Resources Department, as the position of Temporary Human Resources Assistant.

This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt position working approximately 15 hours per week from late October 2026 through late January 2027. The anticipated schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The position is on-site and reports to the Director of Human Resources.

The Temporary Human Resources Assistant will help the HR team organize records, coordinate onboarding tasks, and prepare information needed for upcoming projects. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on HR experience while supporting the people and processes that serve Choate’s employees.

The chosen candidate will be tasked with duties such as:

  • Scan, organize, and maintain paper personnel files and related electronic records, following established confidentiality and records practices.
  • Help track candidates and hires through the onboarding process.
  • Assist with onboarding tasks for other new hires, including seasonal/temporary positions.
  • Create and update templates, tracking documents, and other HR materials.
  • Pull, organize, and save HR data and reports in designated shared locations.
  • Provide administrative support for HR projects and other team needs during the temporary assignment.

Requirements

Requirements include:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee and candidate information with care and discretion.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working with common office software, shared files, spreadsheets, and data.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow instructions, and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Interest in human resources or related administrative work is welcome. Current college students and candidates seeking academic credit are encouraged to apply; college enrollment is not required.

Summary

The anticipated hiring rate is $17.48 per hour for current college students seeking academic credit for this assignment and $18.00 per hour for candidates who are not seeking academic credit.
