Finance Intern

Reports to: Finance Operations Director & Advisor
Elms Family and Community Services is searching for a motivated professional committed to serving the community as a Finance Intern.
Summary: The EFCS Finance Intern provides financial support to the organization's financial affairs unit. This is a volunteer, unpaid internship.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform nonprofit bookkeeping responsibilities
- Performs monthly bank statements for financial activities
- Prepare monthly organizational/departmental account reconciliations
- Tracks expenditures and monitor activities
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of accurate well supported financial statements, analysis and reports
- Adhere to internal financial controls
- Provide support and analysis for annual budgets
- Assist in the preparation of supporting schedules per audit requests
- Assist in preparation of cash receipts and accounts receivable analysis
Job Requirements
Experience: Experience should include the use of a computer and proficiency in creation of spreadsheets and database software; usage of formulas and workbook linking. Strong understanding of GAAP pertaining to not-for-profits preferred. Usage of QuickBooks or a similar accounting software experience is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of nonprofit rules and/or best practices; excellent time management, communication and organizational skills; data analysis skills; keen attention to details; ability to work well under pressure.
Education/Experience: Junior or Senior standing college student is preferred.
Commitment: Must be available to commit to 4-5 hours weekly (16-20 hours monthly)
