Lower School DEIG Practitioner, Leave (Oct 2026-Apr 2027)

Summary Description:
The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Global Education at BB&N is seeking a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Global Education (DEIG) Practitioner for a leave at the Lower School Campus from October 2026 through April 2027. The Lower School DEIG Practitioner will report to the DEIG Officer and will be a participating member of the Office for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Global Education. The person in this position will support the DEIG Officer, colleagues of the DEIG Office, and other stakeholders in the BB&N Community to develop internal structures to ensure that BB&N has a unified approach to building an inclusive, potentially far-reaching community, and to enhance and implement programs, initiatives, and strategies that support BB&N’s strategic design as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, and global education. The person in this role will serve as a connector between campuses by leveraging both school-wide and campus-specific culture, knowledge, relationships, and practices to inform larger D.E.I.G. strategy and programs. This role is highly collaborative in nature and is both adult and student-facing. The person in this role will need to build new processes, as well as effectively and efficiently leverage current systems and resources.
This role is envisioned to be 70-80%. In addition to the responsibilities below, the remaining percentage (20%-30%) of time will be spent supporting the students and school in another capacity consistent with the candidate’s experience. Possibilities include but are not limited to coaching, admissions, and teaching. This role is designed to have presence and impact across all of BB&N’s campuses with the most concentrated focus at the campus level.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Key functions for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Support DEIG Officer in D.E.I.G. Strategic Design.
- Collaborate with the Lower School Campus Director and serve on the campus leadership team.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and support all school D.E.I.G. efforts on the campus.
- Discover, promote, and facilitate D.E.I.G. professional development opportunities for faculty and staff at the campus level.
- Coordinate and facilitate D.E.I.G. events at the campus level and support all school events.
- Connect and collaborate with the Parent Association and parent groups at the campus level.
- Provide support to students and families in connection with established student support systems.
- Provide support and coaching for faculty and staff connected to D.E.I.G. priorities.
- Support the development and implementation of an inclusive curriculum through collaboration with campus teachers, leaders, and the Chief Learning Officer.
- Participate in recruitment, hiring, and retention efforts for faculty and staff processes at the campus level.
- Work closely with the DEIG Officer, the campus leadership, and colleagues of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Global Education to assess the progress of D.E.I.G. related efforts and celebrate successes.
- Support and/or lead campus diversity teams.
- Work with colleagues in the Office for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Global Education to assess the efficacy of D.E.I.G. efforts.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements, Skills, and Competencies:

In keeping with BB&N’s commitment to the community, the DEIG Practitioner will also be knowledgeable about the educational landscape on a local and national level, passionate about working with youth to achieve their goals, a team player, and a creative thinker who has the ability to develop innovative and effective approaches to engage a community across differences. In addition, they have many of the following qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- A Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Previous experience (3+ years) in diversity, equity, inclusion, community engagement, or related fields with experience working in or with schools.
- Previous experience leading projects, programs, or initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- A global mindset and appreciation of diversity and a dedication to the goal of creating and maintaining an authentic, inclusive community.
- High self-awareness and a demonstrated ability to reflect and evolve.
- Strong facilitation skills, methods, and tools.
- Fostered cultural competence and understanding.
- Excellent, clear, professional, and culturally responsive oral and written communication skills, including attentive listening.
- Commitment to inspiring and sustaining a culture of excellence.
- Confident public speaker and comfort representing BB&N as a spokesperson.
- Ability to build effective relationships across different stakeholder groups.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines in a changing environment.
- Fluency or working knowledge of a language in addition to English is a plus.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

Salary: $69,500.00 - $115,754.00 (pro-rated for leave coverage)
BB&N offers competitive salaries and benefits, employing equitable and consistent compensation practices. The starting salary for any hired candidate is based on experience within salary bands.
