Summer Camp Employment

Office Manager

The Office Manager is responsible for the efficient running of the Camp Nicolet office. He/she will be responsible for answering phones, responding to parent e-mails seeking general information, referring inquiries to the appropriate department as needed, picking up and disbursing mail, coordinating camper and staff transportation, managing the parent visitation calendar, and acting as a resource for the camp director and other camp staff to assist with completion of assigned projects. The Office Manager is also responsible for running the camp store (Canteen). This involves taking inventory, reordering product as needed, training staff and CITs on the CampMinder system for entering transactions, running monthly and end-of-season reports, and maintaining a clean and presentable appearance. Cabin responsibilities will be discussed during the interview process.

Salary for the Office Manager starts at $250 per week and includes room & board and worker’s compensation insurance. Applicants for this position must have related experience running a business office.

Nurse

The Nurse is responsible for the care and comfort of all Camp Nicolet campers and staff. He/she must reside on-site in “Patches” and must be a licensed RN. The Nurse must be independent and comfortable making on-the-spot decisions, without the direct oversight of a physician. We do have an existing relationship with a local physician that is only a phone call away, if needed. The Nurse will be responsible for verifying receipt of all required medical forms, running the check in/out process, providing wound and sick care, transporting campers and staff to medical facilities as needed, communicating with parents, keeping accurate records and documentation, and conducting daily cabin inspections (“Capers”).

Salary for the Nurse is negotiable and includes room & board and worker’s compensation insurance.

Social Media Coordinator 

The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for taking photos during daily activities, special events, and out-of-camp experiences and keeping our camp families updated on the happenings at camp. This person will edit and upload photos for parent viewing, post to camp social media accounts, write a weekly camp blog, and run a “Nicolet News” elective activity for campers. This will be a non-cabin staff position and will not have counseling responsibilities.

Salary for the Media Coordinator starts at $210 per week and includes room & board and worker’s compensation insurance. Applicants must be 18 years or older and send a portfolio of your photography to our camp director at jess.shannon79@hotmail.com.

Leadership Program Advisor

The Leadership Program Advisor is responsible for overseeing the Advanced Camper and Counselor-in-Training programs. This person will live with a leadership group in the cabin environment, conduct training sessions in CIT development designed to build participant leadership and counseling skills, work with the Program Director to coordinate a schedule of taking and teaching in activity areas, and transport campers in the camp vehicle during the CIT night off and other off-site trips. In addition, the Leadership Program Advisor will act as an activity instructor, participate on staff committees, and assist with all-camp activities.

Salary for the Leadership Program Advisor starts at $230 per week and includes room & board and worker’s compensation insurance. Applicants for this position must be 21 years or older and have a background in teen leadership.

Cabin Counselors (Female Applicants Only)/Activity Instructors

Cabin Counselors will live with groups of 8-12 girls and up to two co-counselors and are responsible for the supervision, safety, and care of their assigned group at all times. Cabin Counselors will also act as activity instructors, participate on staff committees, and assist with all-camp activities.

Camp Nicolet seeks Cabin Counselors/Activity Instructors with experience in the following areas:  water ski/wakeboard, horseback riding (English), swim, smallcraft (canoe, kayak, stand-up-paddle, windsurf), sailing, tennis, sports, arts & crafts, drama, and camping/tripping.

Those interested in working in any area on the waterfront must be lifeguard certified with waterfront designation.  This course is offered at camp during staff training.

Applicants seeking employment in the water ski/wakeboard area must have USA Waterski Level 1 Instructor Certification. This course has both written and practical application portions and is the financial responsibility of the applicant. The written portion is online and must be completed prior to arrival at camp; the practical portion is completed at camp during staff training.

Salary for Cabin Counselors/Activity Instructors starts at $210 per week and includes room & board and worker’s compensation insurance. Applicants must be 18 years or older.

Riding Assistant

The Riding Assistant will work directly with the riding director to care for the horses and keep the stable area clean. Applicants for this position must have experience working in a barn/stable and knowledge of horse care. In addition to barn responsibilities, this staff member will be required to teach riding lessons, participate on a staff committee, and be involved and engaged during all evening and weekend activities. This is a non-cabin staff position and will not have counseling responsibilities.

Salary for the Riding Assistant is $210 per week and includes room & board and worker’s compensation insurance. Applicants must be 21 years or older.

Cook

The Cook will be responsible for working with the Kitchen Manager to prepare and serve nutritious, well-prepared meals to campers, staff, and guests. The cook must have experience in an institutional or other large quantity food-service setting and must be familiar with safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.

Salary for the Cook will be discussed during the interview and is dependent on need for room & board. Applicants must be 25 years or older.

Kitchen Assistants

Kitchen Assistants will assist the head cooks with stocking, inventory, food prep, cleaning, and dishwashing.

Salary for the Kitchen Assistants starts at $210 per week and includes room & board and worker’s compensation insurance. Applicants must be 18 years or older.
