Intern, Editorial Content (Spring 2027)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications will not be considered after December 1. You must complete your application within three days of starting it for it to be processed.

EXPECTED DURATION: 12 weeks (part-time; up to 21 hours/week)

PAY RATE: $13.75/hour

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Editorial Content Intern supports the Communications & Marketing team in bringing Wolf Trap's story to life through strategic storytelling and compelling content that engages audiences and promotes world-class performances. This intern will write, edit, and proofread editorial content for print and digital platforms, helping to shape communications that inspire audiences and reach thousands of concertgoers each year.

  • Assist with collecting, editing, and proofreading artist biographies for print and digital program books and publications.
  • Research, write, and edit content pieces for program books, Wolf Trap’s News & Stories site, Wolf Trap Opera’s Insider Guide, and other public communications.
  • Craft compelling performance copy to promote select shows.
  • Assist with building digital program book pages on Wolf Trap's website.
  • Provide support for the program book and publication review processes.
  • Brainstorm and contribute new content ideas that share Wolf Trap’s story with diverse audiences.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A strong, creative writer with an interest in the performing arts
  • Exceptional copyediting skills and a sharp attention to detail
  • Excellent research and organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Journalism, public relations, and communication majors are preferred; however, great writing samples will make you stand out no matter your focus.

 

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY:

  • Undergraduate students (must have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate study)
  • Graduate students
  • Recent graduates (up to 2 years out of school)
  • Career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program
  • International students (J-1 or F-1 Visa required)
  • Must be physically located in and have a local address in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia for the duration of their employment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75 percent of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator, copier, printer, etc.)
  • Occasionally required to walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms
  • Lift/move up to 10 pounds infrequently
