Photography & Media Internship – Summer 2027
About the Position
Spend your summer capturing the moments, friendships, traditions, and experiences that make camp unforgettable.
Our Photography & Media Interns help document daily life at camp through high-quality photos and visual content. You’ll photograph activities, special events, trips, competitions, performances, waterfront programs, and the everyday moments that tell the story of a summer at camp.
This is an immersive overnight camp position, not a traditional photography job where you simply arrive, take photos, and leave. You’ll live onsite, become part of the camp community, build relationships with campers and staff, and, depending on your camp assignment, may also have counselor or cabin responsibilities in addition to your photography work.
Photography & Media Interns will:
- Photograph campers and staff participating in activities, events, traditions, trips, and everyday camp life
- Capture a wide variety of candid and action photography throughout the camp day
- Help organize, select, and manage photos for camp use
- Work with camp leadership to ensure important activities, events, and moments are documented
- Help create visual content that gives families an authentic look at their campers’ summer experience
- Build positive relationships with campers and staff while actively participating in the camp community
- Assist with general camp and counselor responsibilities as needed
- Learn and follow all camp policies and procedures, including camper privacy and safety expectations
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old by the start of employment
- Experience with photography and a strong interest in visual storytelling
- Comfortable photographing people, activities, sports, and events in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with digital cameras and basic photo organization/editing
- Creative, dependable, organized, and able to work independently
- Comfortable working as part of a team and interacting with children and young adults
- Previous professional photography or camp experience is not required
About Working at Camp
Working at camp is more than a summer job. Every summer, thousands of children come to our camps for a summer filled with fun, friendship, independence, and growth—and our staff become an enormous part of that experience.
We’re equally invested in the growth of our staff. Over the course of the summer, you’ll gain hands-on professional experience, strengthen your communication and creative skills, take on new challenges, form friendships with people from around the country and the world, and become part of a community unlike a typical summer workplace.
As a photographer, you’ll also have the unique opportunity to capture those experiences as they happen—from the big celebrations and traditions to the small moments that families may treasure long after the summer ends.
Staff working at our overnight camps are required to live onsite at camp for the duration of the summer. Depending on the camp and specific role, Photography & Media staff may live in a camper cabin and assist with cabin responsibilities or live in designated staff housing. All staff participate fully in the camp community throughout the summer.
Positions generally run from approximately the second week of June through the first week of August, with exact dates varying by camp and position.
Compensation is approximately $2,000–$2,700 for the summer, depending on position and experience. Housing, meals, a travel stipend, comprehensive staff training, and scheduled days off are also included.
