Creative Writer

About the team
The EQ Company is a research lab studying emotional intelligence. Our current project is intimately concerned with writing processes, from ideation and outlining through revision to the final draft. 

We are a team of six from UCLA, USC, Caltech, and Columbia, based in South Park, San Francisco.

The role
We're commissioning writers to produce original creative work in response to literary prompts, while documenting how each piece develops. Select writing and processes may be visualised and published as part of our partnerships with English departments in leading universities, and our forthcoming journal. Commissions may include fiction, poetry, screenwriting, non-fiction essays and other forms. You'll work at your own pace within agreed deadlines, and you'll be paid hourly.

Who we're looking for
We're looking for writers with a serious practice in any creative form. Students, recent graduates and early-career writers are also encouraged to apply. Pay will be commensurate with experience. You should be reliable with deadlines and entertain a curiosity about your own creative process. We are accepting applications on a rolling basis to start ASAP.

Compensation and terms
Pay is $20–$30 per hour, depending on experience and consistency. Hours are flexible, between 10-40 hrs a week pending your availaibility. Selected work may be featured in our exhibitions, with credit.
