The Laboratory Manager position is a full-time career position for someone who desires to be a working manager – someone who enjoys performing and analyzing laboratory tests and also wants to be in charge of lab operations. 

The Materials Lab is where everything at Core-Tech starts, and our production operations depend on the Materials Lab running smoothly and providing timely and accurate results. In the Lab, we test and qualify our incoming material feedstocks for the material properties required by our specifications. And we test samples of our finished products to ensure that they have the right chemical and mechanical properties and will perform in our customer’s applications.  The Materials Lab is a key part of Core-Tech: we all depend on its successful operation and performance.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Laboratory Manager will work directly with Core-Tech’s staff, and vendors to manage the overall direction and operation of the Lab. This position includes regular interaction with Core-Tech’s production, materials, and engineering personnel, often performing several different tasks and activities throughout the course of a typical day. 

The Laboratory Manager fulfills a variety of duties in the Materials Science & Technology group.  The range of responsibilities includes routine testing of incoming raw materials, in-process materials and formulations, finished product, and testing representative samples for material batch certification. Additionally, a portion of the Technician’s time is spent executing experimentation and sample preparation in support of Core-Tech’s Product Development efforts. 

In addition, in the role of Laboratory Manager, you will manage Lab workflow and perform laboratory analyses for batch certification. You will also support new materials development with preparation of laboratory and small-scale production materials, manage third party lab analysis, manage test data run charts and archival databases. And you will develop processes for new lab operations (as needed) and identify and drive improvements to lab and production practices
