Business Development & Marketing Intern

Business Development & Marketing Intern

Milk Agency | New York, NY
 Part-Time | Paid Internship | $20/hour

Milk Agency is looking for a curious, resourceful and digitally savvy Business Development & Marketing Intern to support how we grow the agency, build relationships and show up in the world.

This role sits at the intersection of new business, marketing, and communications. You’ll work closely with agency leadership and our Engagement team to research prospective clients and opportunities, support outbound efforts, maintain our CRM, help with email marketing and social content, and keep a pulse on the brands, people and cultural shifts we should know about.

We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious, organized, comfortable with technology and good at figuring things out. You should enjoy research as much as execution — whether that means identifying the right person at a company, building a prospect list, learning a new tool, drafting a LinkedIn post or helping get an email campaign out the door.

What You’ll Do

New Business & Outbound

  • Research prospective clients, brands, executives, and business opportunities
  • Build and maintain targeted prospect and contact lists
  • Support outbound business development and email outreach
  • Help manage our CRM, including contact data, tagging, segmentation, pipeline updates, and follow-ups
  • Research relevant industry events, conferences, awards, speaking opportunities and potential partnerships
  • Support preparation for new business meetings and pitches

Marketing & Communications

  • Support Milk’s agency marketing and communications across email, LinkedIn, and other social channels
  • Help draft, schedule, and publish LinkedIn and social content
  • Support email marketing, including contact lists, segmentation, campaign setup, and basic performance reporting
  • Research editorial opportunities, industry conversations, and topics Milk should participate in
  • Help track agency press, awards, case studies, credentials, and marketing materials
  • Support PR and industry research as needed

Research & Intelligence

  • Conduct research on companies, categories, competitors, executives, and cultural trends
  • Use AI and other research tools to work efficiently and uncover useful insights
  • Monitor relevant agency, brand, marketing, technology and cultural news
  • Turn research into clear, concise summaries the team can actually use

Who You Are

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program related to marketing, communications, business, advertising, PR, or a related field
  • A strong and resourceful researcher
  • Organized, detail-oriented and reliable with follow-through
  • A clear, confident writer
  • Comfortable with social platforms, particularly LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Familiar with email marketing, CRM/contact management, and digital marketing concepts; hands-on experience is a plus
  • Very comfortable with digital tools and quick to learn new platforms
  • Interested in AI and how emerging tools can improve research, marketing, and business development
  • Curious about brands, culture, fashion, design, technology and the creative industry
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift
  • Proactive: when you don’t know something, your instinct is to figure it out
  • Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship. Milk Agency is unable to provide employment-based immigration sponsorship for this position.

Experience with CRM platforms, email marketing tools, LinkedIn, Google Workspace, AI tools and social publishing platforms is helpful, but we care more about your ability to learn quickly, research well and use tools intelligently.

What You’ll Get

You’ll get hands-on exposure to how an independent creative agency grows — from identifying opportunities and building relationships to marketing the agency, developing new business and understanding what makes brands culturally relevant.

You’ll work with senior agency leaders and gain practical experience across business development, marketing, communications and research.
