About the Role 

The Technology Analyst Program is an 18-month development program for recent graduates who want to build practical experience in modern banking technology. Analysts join one of two tracks, AI & Data or Software Engineering, and complete structured assignments, cross-functional rotations, milestone reviews, and a capstone tied to a live Sunwest Bank workstream.  

The program is designed to develop analysts into full-time engineering, data, or product roles through accountable delivery, mentorship, and exposure to the business processes technology supports.  

 

 

Work Details 

Schedule: Monday – Friday, ​Work hours may vary based on operational needs and may include early mornings or extended hours as required.​ 
Work Location: ​Onsite​ 
Travel: ​Occasional (up to 10%)​ 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Own defined technical deliverables under the direction and review of experienced engineers, data professionals, and product leaders.  
  • Complete structured rotations across a home technology team, an adjacent technology track, and selected banking functions.  
  • Document requirements, business rules, data lineage, testing evidence, release readiness, and operating procedures with care and accuracy.  
  • Present work at formal milestone reviews and explain the business purpose, technical approach, controls considered, and results.  
  • Work within Sunwest Bank’s standard security, software development, change management, data governance, and risk controls.  
  • Build a capstone project tied to an active Sunwest Bank workstream and present the final recommendation to a review panel.  

 

Choose Your Track 


Track 1: AI & Data Analyst  

  • Support governed data pipelines, validation, source-to-target mapping, data dictionaries, and quality checks in Microsoft Fabric and OneLake.  
  • Build, validate, and document Power BI reports, including source tracing, calculation definitions, refresh logic, and dependencies.  
  • Support AI workflow development through prompt pipelines, evaluation harnesses, output validation, and documented human review.  
  • Help maintain the metadata, business definitions, and documentation that make trusted data usable across the bank.  

Track 2: Software Engineering Analyst  

  • Build and test defined features for internal applications under normal code review, QA, UAT, and change control.  
  • Support API integrations, identity and SSO flows, workflow automation, and system-to-system connections.  
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools with disciplined testing, documentation, and reviewer ownership.  
  • Contribute to user stories, acceptance criteria, release documentation, and product readiness as adjacent delivery skills.  

 

What We’re Looking For 

(Required) 

  • Bachelor’s degree completed by the program start date in computer science, data science, statistics, engineering, mathematics, information systems, or a related field.  
  • Evidence of building or analyzing real systems through coursework, internships, research, open-source work, or personal projects.  
  • Strong analytical judgment, clear technical writing, and the ability to explain work to both technical and business audiences.  
  • Attention to detail and willingness to work within the controls expected of a regulated financial institution.  
  • Ability to learn quickly, accept feedback, and take ownership of defined deliverables.  

 

AI & Data Profile 

  • SQL fluency and Python proficiency 
  • Relevant coursework or project work in data engineering, analytics, AI, machine learning, statistics, or applied mathematics. 

 

Software Engineering Profile 

  • Active software development experience beyond classroom exercises, demonstrated through shipped projects or a current code portfolio. 
  • Experience with modern version control and AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or comparable tools 

(Nice to Have) 

  • Exposure to Azure, Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Power BI, Databricks, APIs, full-stack development, or cloud-based application development 
  • Experience in banking, fintech, financial services, cybersecurity, product delivery, or another regulated environment. 

 

Program Structure 

Months 1–3  

Foundation  

Banking basics, security, AI policy, SDLC, Azure DevOps, Fabric and OneLake, operational risk, and audit readiness.  

Months 4–9  

Home Team Immersion  

Own defined work within the selected AI & Data or Software Engineering track.  

Months 10–12  

Cross Rotation  

Work in the adjacent technology track to understand how data, engineering, and product connect.  

Months 13–15  

Business Rotation  

Learn the operational workflows supported by technology through exposure to selected banking functions.  

Months 16–18  

Capstone  

Complete and present a defined project tied to a live Sunwest Bank workstream.
