Position Summary
This position supports the accounting team with day-to-day accounting tasks while gaining hands-on experience in non-profit financial operations. This role assists financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, reporting, and data entry to help maintain accurate records and support compliance. This individual must be organized and detail-oriented with experience in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications and have completed a minimum of intermediate accounting-related coursework. The Accounting intern reports directly to the Accounting Manager and may assist with other duties as necessary.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Completion of intermediate accounting coursework, a junior-level accounting major.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial and any confidential information with discretion.
- Interest and exposure in nonprofit accounting, accountability, and mission-driven work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Previous internship, volunteer, campus leadership, or office experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Sage accounting software, knowledge of GAAP and basic nonprofit accounting concepts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including assisting in preparation of schedules and supporting documentation, bank and account reconciliations, receivables, and other ad-hoc reconciliations.
- Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
- Organize financial files and audit support materials while maintaining confidentiality and strong internal controls.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities including filing and scanning to store in the appropriate accounting shared drive.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by manager.

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. Thiswould require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinetsand bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Position Classification, Type & Expected Hours of Work:
This is an on-site and part-time, non-exempt hourly position. Days and hours of work are to be determined during business hours Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and may include evening and weekend obligations.
