With six locations in Fremont, Mountain View, Cupertino, Newark, San Jose, and Belmont, CalColor Academy provides high-quality art education to more than 5000 students ages 4 to 18.

Our Digital Art Program serves students ages 7 to 18 through a progressive curriculum that includes Digital Art, Digital Painting, Digital Anime, Animation, and Digital Art Portfolio Development. Students build strong artistic foundations while exploring illustration, design, visual storytelling, and creative technology.

Responsibilities:

• Lead engaging and interactive digital art classes for students ages 7 to 18.
• Teach students how to use Procreate, Adobe Photoshop (optional) , and other digital art tools effectively.
• Deliver CalColor lesson plans in a well-organized, meaningful, and creative way.
• Adapt instruction to different age groups, skill levels, and learning needs.
• Teach essential art fundamentals, including digital drawing, composition, color, lighting, perspective, form, and visual storytelling.
• Guide students through projects in digital illustration, cartooning, character design, graphic design, typography, visual development, and digital painting.
• Provide individualized instruction and constructive feedback to help students strengthen their technical skills and develop their individual artistic voices.
• Lead thoughtful critique sessions that help students evaluate their work, solve artistic problems, and improve their portfolios.
• Maintain an organized, inspiring, and supportive classroom environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding students’ progress, achievements, and areas for continued development.
• Collaborate with other teachers to develop and improve CalColor’s digital art curriculum.
• Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and professional-development opportunities.
• Help organize student exhibitions and other opportunities to showcase and celebrate student artwork.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Illustration, Visual Development, Graphic Design, Entertainment Design, Animation, Art, Art Education, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Procreate and Adobe Photoshop.
• Strong drawing, painting, design, and visual-development fundamentals.
• Ability to teach both artistic concepts and digital techniques in a clear and age-appropriate way.
• A genuine passion for art, art education, and working with children and teens.
• Ability to deliver structured lessons in an engaging, meaningful, and creative way.
• Excellent classroom-management and group-facilitation skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to provide clear, encouraging, and constructive feedback.
• Collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to providing an exceptional learning experience.
• Can-do attitude, effective problem-solving skills, and resilience when facing challenges.
• Flexibility in teaching methods and adaptability to students of different ages and ability levels.
• Teaching experience, particularly with students ages 7 to 18, is strongly preferred.
• Experience in animation, anime and manga, visual storytelling, or portfolio development is a plus.
