Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve students in kindergarten through first grade, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners with diverse needs, including those with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. You will collaborate closely with families, therapists, and other educators to develop individualized learning plans that promote growth, independence, and confidence in every student. About our School

We are a small inclusive Christian school. As a young school, we are looking for people that can grow with us. We started in January 2025 with 8 students and have developed a unique program that is centered around individualization, social and life skills, and developing the child as a whole. We currently have about 20 students and continue to grow!

About the Position

• K-1 inclusive classroom
• 3-6 students (depending on the day- some students are parttime)
• School hours are 9-3pm, contract hours 8:45-3:15
• Occasional afterschool activities (talent show, open houses, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Design and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of K-1 students with disabilities.
• Develop and monitor individual academic and social goals. While we don't have IEPs, we still track progress.
• Utilize evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques and behavior management strategies to support positive behavior and social-emotional development.
• Collaborate effectively with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, parents, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support for each student’s development.
• Maintain professional parent communication.

Skills

• Proven experience working with children in early childhood education settings, particularly within special education or preschool environments.
• Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention strategies, and classroom management techniques for students with disabilities.
• Expertise in teaching students with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders support, and neurodevelopmental disorder accommodations.
• Excellent communication skills for effective parent-teacher collaboration and team coordination; ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
• Familiarity with special education law (IDEA), IEP processes, instructional modifications, and behavior management plans tailored for diverse learners.

Preferred Experience

• Licensed teacher certification
• Experience in early childhood education (preschool, kindergarten, elementary)
• Experience with special education
