Compensation & Benefits

Annualized to approximately $71,000.  This internship does not include health or other benefits but does include a firm-wide closure the week of the Fourth of July. Strong performers will be considered for a full-time Analyst offer following graduation. 

Background

Tobin Capital Group (TCG) is a Stanford Graduate School of Business-founded, tech-enabled real estate operating company and private equity firm, with $715M of assets under management across 67 locations, six states, and two business lines, Self-Storage and Manufactured Housing. The firm is raising its second fund ($250M, acquiring $625M of real estate) and aims to 5x its real estate portfolio within 5 years, including expansion into new verticals.

TCG is Committed to Providing the Intern

  • Meaningful Operating Experience: You will support projects to help improve operational efficiency and property outcomes across both of TCG's business lines, self-storage and manufactured housing.
  • Broad Exposure: You will toggle across self-storage and manufactured housing operations, contributing to a rapidly growing real estate portfolio and the operations of a world-class business.
  • Learning and Development: You will build technical and interpersonal skills through hands-on project work alongside the front-line team.
  • Mentorship: You will be paired with a dedicated Associate mentor who will own your project assignment and 1:1 feedback across both business lines, with additional support from our broader Operations team and the executive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Operations & Special Projects: Partner with the corporate operations team to manage critical day-to-day business needs across the portfolio, owning special projects end to end and using automation and data analysis to solve complex, ambiguous operational problems.
  • Front-Line Team Support: Support the front-line management team with day-to-day operational needs, acting as a key bridge between the corporate office and our facilities, including front-line hiring processes, monthly team meetings, and feedback sessions.
  • Project Management: Help manage projects across the portfolio from kickoff to completion, keeping stakeholders aligned and initiatives on schedule.
  • Acquisitions Support: Support new self-storage and MHP acquisition onboarding and performance improvement initiatives, including deployment of TCG's operational playbook, partnering with the corporate operations team on ad hoc workstreams.
  • Be a Culture Carrier: Bring joy and curiosity to everything you do.

Qualifications

  • Education: Actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree; rising juniors/seniors preferred. Major Agnostic, emphasis on Demonstrated Excellence.
  • Experience: No professional experience required. Culture and character fit is valued above industry experience.
  • GPA Requirement: 3.7+ 

Skills

Skills & Tools: 

  • Comfort using and learning: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with strong data analysis skills
  • Comfort using and learning: Claude to automate workflows, analyze data, and support decision-making
  • Interest in or familiarity with no-code/automation tools (e.g., Notion, Zapier, Google Apps Script) a plus
