Highway Christian Academy is seeking a passionate 3rd-4th Grade Elementary Teacher to lead a small, multi-age classroom of no more than 10-15 students in our growing Christian school in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

With a small class, our teachers have the opportunity to understand how each child learns, differentiate instruction, build meaningful relationships with families, and create engaging learning experiences that can be difficult to achieve in a larger classroom. 

Our combined 3rd-4th grade model allows students to learn together as a classroom community while receiving instruction, assignments, support and academic expectations appropriate to their individual grade level and learning needs.

What You’ll Do

As HCA’s 3rd-4th Grade Teacher, you’ll lead a small multi-age classroom where students are known, challenged, encouraged, and excited to learn

You’ll:

• Plan and deliver engaging instruction for students in grades 3-4
• Differentiate lessons, assignments, and expectations appropriately between grade levels and individual learners.
• Provide strong instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
• Use the advantages of a small classroom to provide individualized attention and academic support.
• Create hands-on learning experiences that encourage curiosity, collaboration, problem solving and critical thinking. 
• Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian worldview naturally throughout instruction and classroom life. 
• Establish a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
• Encourage responsibility, kindness, independence, perseverance, and a love of learning.
• Assess student learning and use results to guide instruction.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians.
• Partner with fellow teachers and school leadership in academic planning and school activities.
• Supervise classroom assistance and volunteers when applicable.
• Participate in professional development and broader life of the HCA school community.

• Has experience teaching or working with elementary-age students.

Our Approach to Learning 

At Highway Christian Academy, we believe children learn by doing.  

Our elementary curriculum emphasizes active, hands-on learning designed to build strong academic foundations while helping students develop curiosity, confidence, and independence. 

Students receive instruction in core academic areas including reading and writing, mathematics, science, and history, with additional enrichment opportunities including Art, Music, Spanish, Physical Education, outdoor exploration

Our current curriculum incorporates resources including UFLI, Learning Without Tears, Purposeful Design Mathematics, Discover & Do, Noeo, and Notgrass History.

Compensation & Position Details

Salary: Starting at $30,000 for the 10-month school-year position, based on education and experience.
