Investment Banking Analyst - Y1 - Loan Capital Markets and Syndication - Project Finance

DIVISION DESCRIPTION:

Infrastructure and Project Finance Syndicate (“Syndicate”) is a single, integrated team responsible for the origination, pricing, structuring and distribution all syndicated loans originated by SG in the Americas sold to investors in the Americas.  Syndicate is responsible for (i) origination, structuring and execution of loan mandates, for our clients and prospective clients located both in the Americas and Europe, (ii) securing internal approvals to execute financings on either an underwritten or best-efforts basis and (iii) managing all phases of the distribution process.

Syndicate work most closely with the following coverage groups including: Energy Project Finance, Digital Infrastructure, Core Infrastructure and Metals, Mining & Industrials.

In addition to the various coverage teams, Syndicate works closely with the Loan Sales and Trading teams.   Externally, the Syndicate team interacts directly with both corporate and sponsor clients, as well as banks and institutional loan investors.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
In addition to the usual responsibilities expected of an Analyst, the successful candidate will be expected to:

• Be proactively involved in every phase of the deal process
• Understand product and market dynamics through comparables and markets analysis
• Keep up with industry trends
• Coordinating with internal functions to obtain all required approvals for the execution of transactions
• Develop relationships and maintain a dialogue with peers at other banks and non-bank institutions as a source of market intelligence during the origination process and market capacity during syndication
• Help prepare marketing materials for pitches and for deal execution
• Assist in preparation of underwriting memoranda

Skills and Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

• Strong analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in teams 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated work ethic, positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
• SIE, Series 7/79 and Series 63 certifications. If not already obtained, must complete within five months of hire

TECHNICAL SKILLS: 

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Less than 1 year of Investment Banking experience including participation in formal summer analyst programs

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university (preferably in Economics, Accounting, or Finance)
