Lower School Visual Art Teacher
Pioneer Academy is seeking a highly effective Lower School Visual Arts Teacher with 2-3 years of teaching experience Visual Arts Teacher beginning in November 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history.
- Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting.
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned art units that introduce foundational concepts like line, color theory, texture, shape, and balance.
- Provide hands-on instruction in diverse techniques including watercolor, acrylics, clay modeling, papercraft, printmaking, and basic digital media.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
- Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding and prepare progress reports.
- Collaborate with homeroom and specialty teachers to align art projects with grade-level science, social studies, literature, or math topics.
- Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community.
- May sponsor exhibits from outside the school.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs, such as after-school art club.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- NJ State Teacher Certification in Music.
- Passion for music and a genuine desire to inspire young learners.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in creative and interactive music lessons.
- Experience using technology in the music classroom.

Salary range:
$50,000 -$70,000, commensurate with experience. The salary will be adjusted based on the remaining portion of the academic year.
