Principal Responsibilities:

• Gain exposure to maritime law and the Jones Act, contracts, litigation, insurance, and finance.
• Assist with contract drafting and review.
• Support creation of a contract database.
• Work with internal legal and claims teams and outside counsel on claims and litigation files.
• Communicate with Marquette's marine insurance broker.
• Assist with day-to-day tasks and special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a law degree (J.D. candidate).
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Interest in maritime law, transportation, or related industries preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with internal teams and outside counsel.
• Creative thinker who is comfortable generating new ideas and trying innovative approaches.
• Team-oriented with strong communication skills and a willingness to take initiative.
• Willingness and ability to travel to New Orleans or other locations as needed.

This is a paid summer internship opportunity located onsite in Paducah, KY, with internship dates ranging from June 1, 2027 to July 31, 2027 (can be flexible on dates).
