Sweet Trees Hawaii is the only fruit tree care company in Hawaiʻi. Other companies come out for a one-time trim or a removal. We take care of fruit trees over time: pruning to open up the canopy, testing and amending the soil, feeding, pest and disease prevention, and grafting and propagation. We're a small crew on Oʻahu with an arborist on staff and a 5-star rating on Google.

There are thousands of mango, avocado, citrus, and ʻulu trees already growing in backyards across this island, and many of them are overgrown, crowded, or dying from the inside where nobody can see it. Every tree we bring back keeps shade over a neighborhood and keeps feeding the family that lives there, and usually their neighbors too. We share what we know for free, we provide expert care when people want an extra hand, and along the way we help get new trees in the ground.

What we're looking for

We want someone behind the camera on our jobs. You'd come out to a job site, capture the work as it happens, and help us turn it into posts, short videos, and ads: a jaboticaba opened up after years of being shaped like a hedge, a mango canopy thinned before storm season, a tree the owner had written off that's flowering again. A lot of backyard trees look beautiful on the outside and are dead on the inside. Your camera is how people see the difference.

How it works

There's no set weekly schedule. When we book a job that's worth shooting, we reach out, and you take the ones that fit around your classes and your life. Most jobs run on weekdays, with some weekend work depending on the job.

What you'd do

  • Shoot photos and video on job sites: before and after, pruning and care in progress, and short conversations with our crew and the people whose trees we care for.
  • Edit short vertical videos for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Pitch ideas. We're open to trying fun formats as long as they fit our brand and our story.
  • Help with ad creative and social strategy if that's your thing.

What you'll learn with us

  • How fruit trees work: why a crowded canopy stops fruiting, how pruning timing affects the next crop, and what a soil test tells you.
  • How a small local business runs its marketing, from a shoot to a post to a phone call from someone whose tree needs help.
  • How to work safely around active tree work. Everyone gets a short site safety orientation before their first job. You'll shoot from the ground and outside the work zone while our crew handles the saws and the climbing.

We want to learn from you too: angles, editing tricks, new formats, and what's working on social right now. We see this as a real exchange of knowledge and skill.

Who we're looking for

  • You're good with a camera and you know a great shot when you see one.
  • You can edit, even at a basic level, in CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci, or whatever you like.
  • You love being outside and you care about trees, food, or the land. Agriculture and environmental science students are welcome, and so is anyone who grows a garden or wonders why the mango down the street hasn't fruited in years.
  • You pay attention to what's around you. Job sites have ladders, branches coming down, and equipment running.
  • You're comfortable asking a homeowner a few questions on camera.
  • You have your own camera or phone setup and a way to get to job sites around Oʻahu.

Bonus points for social media marketing experience, Meta ads, a photography portfolio, or an FAA Part 107 drone certificate.

Pay

Starting at $20 an hour, with room to grow as we work together.

How to apply

Send a link to your work: a portfolio, a drive folder, or two or three posts you're proud of. In a short note, tell us about a tree, a garden, or a piece of land that matters to you.

P.S. Customers often gift fruit as a perk of the industry you'll get to try new and amazing tropical fruits too!
