This internship provides exposure to supplier quality management, part qualification, supplier performance data, and the cross-functional collaboration between Quality, Purchasing, and Engineering.
The Supplier Quality Engineering Intern will assist with a defined summer project scoped by a mentor, support day-to-day supplier quality activities, and contribute to work that improves how we evaluate and manage our supply base.
What You'll Do
Support a defined summer project assigned by your mentor, such as helping build a supplier performance scorecard, assisting with a PPAP submission package, or documenting a root cause investigation on a recurring non-conformance.
Help analyze supplier performance data — defects per million, on-time delivery, reject and warranty trends — in Excel and SAP, and assist in preparing summaries for the management team.
Sit in on supplier audits and technical reviews, virtual and on-site at regional suppliers, and observe how a supplier's quality management system is evaluated.
Learn how a Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) is written, issued, and closed, and help maintain the supporting documentation.
Observe the APQP process and how launch readiness is assessed before a new part is approved.
Help compare supplier process capability data against print requirements and flag gaps for the team to review.
Read technical drawings and material standards such as ASTM, and learn what a specification is really asking for.
Share your project findings and observations with the Quality and Sourcing teams at the end of the term.
