Basketball Data Scout

Are you a sports enthusiast looking to get closer to the action, or a die-hard basketball fan? A leading global sports data supplier is looking for passionate individuals to help capture accurate, real-time data at the college basketball level.

Our goal is to send people to all Division I venues as Scouts to capture scores and real-time game information:

If you are 18 years of age or older and located near a Division I school, please apply below. Sports data experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.

What You'll Do

• Attend Division I college basketball games in your school or area, in person, providing real-time coverage by reporting live action directly from the venue using our proprietary collection software on your mobile phone.
• Provide accurate and timely updates on game events, scores, and other relevant details using our in-house tool on your mobile device.
• Conduct pre-game reporting duties, including verifying game times, formats, and any other necessary information.
• Generate post-game reports that highlight any issues related to capturing scores or other observations.
• Submit expense information promptly for reimbursement.
• Maintain communication regarding your availability for future event coverage.
• Successfully complete a comprehensive training experience (usually between 5 to 10 hours, done at your convenience), with direct mentorship from an experienced trainer before working on a live game.

• Good command of spoken English.
• Access to a mobile phone with a reliable internet connection and phone battery for live reporting.
• Willingness and ability to travel to the basketball venues in your area.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
• Prior experience in similar roles is not necessary.

Please Note

This is an independent contractor position paid by events attended and dependent on the successful completion of data collection. Independent contractors are solely responsible for managing and fulfilling their tax obligations. The role is not affiliated with the university athletics department.

Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour

• This position pays a base rate of $175 per Basketball game. Are you willing to accept this rate of pay?
• This role requires arriving at the stadium 1 hour before tipoff and working 3-3.5 hours per game on average (overtime may extend this). Are you able to meet this schedule requirement?
