Venture Investment Analyst Intern

Join Michigan Capital Network, a venture capital investment firm in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for a 10-12 week internship in the summer of 2027.

We're looking for a current graduate student pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field, with a strong interest in venture capital and startup investing. Candidates should bring strong analytical and quantitative skills, including comfort with financial modeling and market research, along with excellent written and verbal communication. We value intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Prior experience in finance, consulting, or a startup setting is a plus but not required.

This is an on-site role based in Grand Rapids, MI, with 2 remote workdays per week. A relocation stipend is available.

You'll get hands-on experience across the full investment lifecycle, including:

• Sourcing and evaluating early-stage investment opportunities, with emphasis on Michigan and the broader Midwest 
• Market research, competitive analysis, market sizing, financial modeling, and risk assessment 
• Supporting due diligence: data collection, company calls, industry benchmarking 
• Drafting investment memos and supporting materials for Investment Committee 
• Portfolio monitoring - gathering and organizing company updates and KPIs 
• Building relationships with local entrepreneurs, accelerators, incubators, and economic development organizations 
• A capstone project presented to the full team in week 10
